phone charges only when slanted

hi guys, im sad to say i dropped my phone while i was charging it and it made charging the phone a bit dysfunctional. in order for me to charge my phone now i have to

-plug in the charger to my phone

-set it on a table

-stick a pen right underneath the head of the charger(so that my phone is raised up from the table at an angle)

-and place a water bottle full of water on the part of my phone where its raised

this is what i call GHETTO!!!! lol all my friends laughed at me hahaha

anyways one of my friends thinks he can solder it to make it work like normal but i dont understand how or why that will help (if anyone has any ideas on how or why id appreciate it)

so what are yalls thoughts on what could be wrong and what i should do?

if nothing comes up im just gonna stick with this ghetto charging =)
