Guest mleewill Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Microsoft are to allow hotmail messages on Vodaphone, cheers bit of a kick in the teeth to all us who have a MICROSOFT smartphone on ORANGE, wish they would stick with one manufacturer and get it right. http://news.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t269-s2129589,00.html
Guest telephoneman Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 quote" Microsoft already offers access to Hotmail and Messenger services to customers of 35 carriers in 17 countries. It did a similar deal with Vodafone Australia last September." wasnt that before the SPV was even launched?? so seems Vodafone pipped orange again....... oh and incase you hadnt realised you can get more mail than hotmail on your spv.... "the futures bright, and its somewhere else"
Guest podavies Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 one of the main reason that i bought this phone was to get my hotmail email straight to my phone it takes the piss.
Guest HelloDave Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Imagine the spam with direct to your inbox hotmail! You can access hotmail on MSN mobile via internet explorer anyway, so it's not really a big deal! If you use e-mail for serious use, it's not that likely you're gonna be using hotmail (please tell me you don't, please ;))!
Guest telephoneman Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I have a hotmail account, and its my junk account...and the amount of spam is incredible.... Man, if I received a text message ( to announce the arrival of new mail )every time spam came in Id have a phone bill that would match 3rd world debt...remember those alerts cost money and someones got to pay...and it will be YOU as the user Im sure. Besides if you bought an spv JUST to access ur hotmail, thats bad,,,,a cheap WAP phone would have been just fine, or ewven better a PC! ..so either you were oversold   do they do that?????? IF you can afford gprs rates to check a spammy mail account like hotmail your a better man than me..... I mean even with oranges HSCSD package the cost in sms alerts and traffic must outweigh the benefit surely! Personally if I have friends who are frequently online I'd use Instant Messaging (MIM/AIM/yahoo/trillian) to keep in touch rather than email... benefits.... always on small amounts of data cheap.... ah happy days! ;) j
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Although Orange doesn't support it (or admit that it's possible!) AFAIR, you can pick up Hotmail via WAP.
Guest Thurstan Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 You can, I used to use the service on my Sony J70
Guest casper508 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 I tried the service for a few weeks on my Voda t68 last year. It was something like 20p/message. Too costly as i was getting loads of messages daily. Best solution would be a pop3 hotmail account on ur SPV. But then again we have to pay the MSN charges. I had a genie account when i was using Genie as an ISP. I switched to Freeserve couple of years back but the genie account is still live and kicking and is the one I use on the SPV, even though I havent paid em a penny in two years. Now thats FREE service for you. Cas
