Guest greyfox8585 Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 I was on the phone to orange customer srvices yesterday and they gave a bit insider info ill tell you the story of why the issue came up anyway. the omnia i had was i900xxhj4/mshj1. and both mine and my girlfriends died. just would work properly i rang up for two replacememtns, they said fine be there next day. so i waited by the door for them to get here, so anyway... i opened my package and unravelled the bubblewrap to reveal a orange branded box i was so pissed off and dreading turning the phone on. needless to see i was greeted by the absolutely shocking bvhh1 (yes i know its replacable, keep reading) so i rang up orange and said whats this crap weres my google maps. weres my non branded widgets. i said can i use the samsung update (the official one) to replace the sh*t theyd given me they said yes but theyll call tech support anyway i rang them later and said i cant just use the update file from samung as the new rom(theirs) will not let me i said if i can get round it will my insurance still cover it after all if the difference is a new rom but no free replacements i would have kept there rom so after the guy rag tech support he said and this is what the labrats and orange say "there may be a way aound it but they dont know what it is" i chortled loudly and said id already gotten back my mshj1 roms on both handsets and then i got the best info ever for uk orange users. everytime they get back a bricked device they juyst replace the hardware inside. so i asked if i flashed a custom rom and then dropped my phone would i still get warranty replacments. he said yes. whch means i could theoretically flash anyrom to it and then brick it and still be covered for a raplacement sorry if this is common knowledge but i do see the "how can i get my old rom back for warranty reasons" so know orange uk user now know they do not need it yyaayyy ps sorry for the terrible grammar im may well be a f***wit
Guest 3shirts Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Good to know and how funny that they replace the hardware on bricked devices! Must be costing them a pretty penny. Maybe we should offer to buy the bricked ones off them for a knockdown price, flash them back to life and flog them on ebay!
Guest greyfox8585 Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 that would totally work. idiots.
