Media Album and Thumbnails

I realized lately that in media album it generates the thumbnails of those pictures in the storage card very easily and very quickly as those compared to pictures stored in the My Storage area.

To explain the above, each time you navigate to the pictures folder in my storage area it takes a while to generate the thumbnails. Further< it does not happen for all the pictures at once....You have to keep scrolling to generate the thumbnails for the other pictures row by row.these are pictures i copied off my mac.

i initially thought it was because the pictures are too large and so i resized them but that hasnt helped either. this doesnt make sense as the pictures in the storage card are much larger than these and were clicked by the phone camera itself.

IS there any resolution for this as its a PITA to view my pictures if it takes so long to just generate the thumbnails.

Also the picture widget used to change the background of today screen by defauly takes pictures in the storage card how do i use pictures in the my storage area from the widget?I know I can copy pics to the storage card but then whats the whole idea of having 16gigs of storage if one has to use the storage card for all these petty things.
