Guest Likvidator Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Hi people! Would you, please, help me to solve, this problem? When I hook up my Omnia with USB cable to PC, I'm getting the following. Windows reports that - NEW DEVICE DETECTED and start to search for drivers. After a couple of seconds this Windows activity is over. Device Manager in the list of USB Controllers shows - UNKNOWN DEVICE. When I try to connect my phone to PC manualy there is no result. ActiveSynс wont detect my phone. I've procceeded all steps in ActiveSync Help, but still no succes. Did some1 met that problem before? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Guest Pete2 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) I had a similar problem and the solution was to go to start/settings/connections/USBtoPC (on the pda) and untick the box"Enable advanced network funtionality". Its the only thing I can think of. Edited February 2, 2009 by Pete2

Anyway, thnx again! :) Did you install the samsung modem drivers? you can find it in the samsung support page also, after installing the drivers, install activesync 4.5 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-...tivesync45.mspx
Guest sabestian Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Have you got a firewall running on your PC? Try disabling it. Worked for me. :)
Guest blert596 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) I had/have exactly the same problem on my XP desktop PC. However, when I now try and connect my Belkin Wireless USB to the PC I get exactly the same response as well. I've tried it from various USB ports on different cards as well with the same response from all devices. Edit: Just to say that initially it all worked no problem. It was only when I went to reconnect it again that it happened. Edited February 3, 2009 by blert596

I'll try that. :D But looks for me, there is a problem with USB drivers on my PC. Now, when I do insert card reader in USB, exactly the same simptoms. OS doesn't recognise my card reader, which I've used before without any problems. Windows reports: NEW DEVICE FOUND and after drivers search, UNKNOWN DEVICE appears in USB Controllers list, in Device Manager. (Same, as in case when hooking up Omnia). Don't know how to fix it without reinstalling OS. When I try to update USB driver, - A situable driver for this device is allready installed, seen on the screen. Any advice, folks? Thanks to all of you and regards! :) Edited February 3, 2009 by Likvidator

Not only Omnia but ALL other USB devices, (exept keyboard by some reason), were detected as UNKNOWN device. In case some1 will get the same problem, I'll describe what was wrong. BIOS!!! It was mulfunctioning untill I reset it by taking off system battery. After a cople of minutes, I've put it back, started computer and all USB connections went back to normal. External back up, card readers and my Omnia. Thanx to all of you, for your support and advices. Regards! :)

I've been having the same issues with ActiveSync you've been having for a few weeks now, but I finally resolved the problem this morning. The app in question has been S2U2 version 1.37 all along. I uninstalled S2U2 this morning and syncing after that has been incident free ever since. Have you got S2U2 or something similar on your Omnia? You might want to have a look at that.

Have you got S2U2 or something similar on your Omnia? You might want to have a look at that. I've got a fairly "stock" Omnia, no custom ROMs or other software. I got it to connect with my laptop so I can do the 'sync', but now that I'm trying to do it with my Windows Vista desktop, all I get is "unknown device". I suspect I need to download the drivers. My "version" is i900DXHF8/DXHF8 From what I've already read here, that means (I think) that I've got a phone such as those sold in Singapore. Where do I go to download the "modem drivers", and which ones do I need to download and install? I tried to do this a few hours ago, but got confused as to what to download. Thanks in advance...
Guest jamesstone Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 I just had the same problem and disabled my F-secure firewall and XP detected it right away.
