When I try and update the touchplayer library it gets so far through then hangs. I understand that it's to do with tags not being correct, but how do I identify which ones are wrong? I've got 12gb of music and don't want to go through track by track! Anyone got a clue how I find the problem? Thanks.

There are programs that will search through your ID3 tags and report errors, and correct any if it find them. I would try a google search for something like ID3 tag fix, something is bound to come up. Hopefully that would help. Also, try keeping it plugged in so it doesn't try to go into standby.

Hi Shadowy,

It is a terrible chore to set up the Touch Player library properly - but I think its worth the effort.

My experience was that you need to make sure that the all of the album information was consistent. Each time it would come to an album with a track with a different genre or date it would fall over. You can find the offending MP3 by doing a search for small songs (they end up with a size less than 8 KB).

I used Media Monkey to update and fix the tags.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. Michael122w, I'm not sure what you mean about searching for small songs. All songs have been copied across correctly. Could you explain further please? Thanks.

Hey Shadowy - Sorry I was speaking crap - it has been a while since I updated mine (I was confusing a problem I was having transfering embedded album art across where windows media play would simply crash each time it found something unusual.)

I remember now I had to try and track down the offending track by looking at the last album added to the library (last song by last artist).

Good luck!

Sorry if I'm being slow, but how can I tell which is the last track? If I look at All Music in the library the tracks are shown in alphabetical order. Is there a file somewhere I can look at? Thanks for your help.

Hello!

I reccommend switching to Conduits Pocket Player.

The reason i switched was because i have about 2000 songs on my omnia, random songs, very few full albums. I found that when you go to the artist screen the only way of scrolling down was by flicking, now i have a LOT of artists and i was starting to grow grey hair before i found the bottom of the list...

Has this been changed??

Nope, its still not changed sadly ... but i've gone back to the touch player after trying pocket player, kinoma freeplay and stuff, simply because it has the best sound quality of all the players. I have around 1200+ songs on my omnia; i add the songs into playlists and just play them shuffled or i'd use the "coverflow" thingy to choose album. In this way, i'm hardly irritated by the snail-like scrolling in the touch player. And if i wanna upgrade my rom, i just make sure i backup the database so i wouldnt lose the library and playlists :)

I really want to use touch player but every time i update the library it causes my memory card to report its full, even if its nowhere near. Even new roms havent fixed this, have any of you seen this problem before?

Under Application Data, there's a file called "twmp_lib.edb" backup this file to backup ur library and playlists. What i do is i add this to the list of custom files to backup using PIMBackup, so after i flash a new rom, i can restore the library and playlist, along with my pim data. Hope it helps :)

Hi there. The library seems to trawl through your library in the same order that you have them in your card - so if you look under artist by album then the last track in the last album by the last artist is more than likely the offending track. It doesn't quite work that smoothly as compilation albums (eg with zztop) can appear after the offending track - but just try and ignore compilations if possible!
