Guest Stevenh Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 When running SPB Wireless monitor, it shows I have 3 GPRS settings: Orange Internet Orange MMS Orange WAP Can someone tell me the difference between them and if I can delete any of them and how to delete them? These were present once I put my SIM in, I didn't create these myself... Thanks Steven
Guest scoiattolo Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 :) In every phone (not just Omnia) you will usually have these 3 types of connection from any provider (not just Orange) I think their use is quite self-explanatory :D Orange Internet is for full direct internet access Orange MMS it's for MMS Orange WAP is for internet access via WAP (i.e. via a proxy that may limit the sites or protocols you can access). The choice between full direct access or via WAP may make a difference depending on your data plan: you may have for example unlimited WAP data but pay if you use full direct internet.
Guest Neil5459 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Orange don't differentiate between the different APN's used for data. Most traffic will go via the Orange Internet connection. Orange WAP is only used for connections to the Orange World service, including your online account details. This is not available over Orange Internet. Switching between the 2 is automatic. In your case, I suggest getting SpB to monitor both Orange WAP and Orange Internet. I believe MMS traffic is paid for within the MMS charge, but I'm not sure. Set to monitor it if you want to play safe!
