Guest coldchuck Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Hi. Recieved a new phone from Verizon. I am hearing impaired and I have to rely on vibration to let me know if I got new message. To my surprise, the vibration does not work. It vibrates when I touch the pad and so forth so we know the vibration is working. I went to call notification screen and made sure the SMS, email, MMS vibration are enabled and phone ring set to vibration. Still it does not work. Am I missing something? Your assistance is requested as I am getting tired of missed message becasue I failed to check the phone every 5 minutes. Dang it. Thanks!
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Did you install any software? Make sure that you didn't put your phone on silent using the keys on the right. Make sure it's set to vibrate.

When you say "keys" are you referring to 3 buttons on the right side for the camera? I have search and searched for something like this where I might overlook. I looked into electronic copy of the manual and did not see where I was looking for. Thanks.

Guest coldchuck Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 i suggest you have your phone replaced its not supposed to work that way How do I advise Verizon that their phone has a problem? Is it software or hardware issues? I want to ensure that I have the settings correct, can anyone indicate what settings to be enable and what needs to be disable to make the function work. That way I can "look" the tech support in the eye :D and say your phone is rubbish and get me another one. :) Thanks!
Guest dwallersv Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Chuck, check your ringtone settings, and make sure you are configured for a ringtone that actually exists and plays. Being hearing impaired you might need someone to help you with this. I had the same problem as you after I changed to a custom ringtone, then sometime later deleted the file forgetting it was assigned as my incoming call ring. Once that was the case, the phone would neither ring or vibrate. Fix was simply to point the ringtone at a working selection, and it all came back. I played around with this and switched back and forth, confirming that the ringer doesn't vibrate if it doesn't have a valid ringtone specified.
