Thanks I spent many weeks in Tamil Nadu trying to get working GPRS settings. They got me something that worked for a few days, then stopped. I'll post my notes here, but it may or may not be good in Goa.... ============================================================================ Vodafone Settings for India – GPRS for Samsung Omnia, as used in Madurai Start > Settings > click on Connections tab at bottom Connections > My Internet manage Existing connections The table will eventually show the following: Name Number, vl portalnmms Click on "Edit" Enter a name for this connection: vl Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) Click "Next" Access port name: portalnmms Click "Next" User name: <blank> Password: <blank> Domain: <blank> Click on Advanced: Click "x" on "User server-assigned IP address Click "ok" Click on Finish ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on "Proxy Settings" tab at bottom: Click "x" on This network connects to the internet. Click "x" on This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet Proxy server: 10.10.1.100 Click on Advanced Type Server HTTP 10.10.1.100:9401 WAP 10.10.1.100:9201 Secure WAP 10.10.1.100:9401 Socks 10.10.1.100:1080 Click "ok" Go down the page to the heading: My Work Network Click on Manage existing connections (the table shown will eventually look like this, after editing) Name Number, vodafone portalnmms Click on "Edit" Enter a name for this connection: vodafone Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) Click "Next" Access port name: portalnmms Click "Next" User name: <blank> Password: <blank> Domain: <blank> Click on Advanced: Click "x" on "User server-assigned IP address Click "ok" Click on Finish ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on "Proxy Settings" tab at bottom: Click "x" Use server-assigned IP address. Click on "servers" tab ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the original screen for "My Work Network" and click on the "Edit my proxy server" tab Put an "x" for This network connects to the internet Put an "x" for This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet Proxy server: 10.10.1.100 Click on Advanced Type Server HTTP 10.10.1.100:9401 WAP 10.10.1.100:9401 Secure WAP 10.10.1.100:9203 Socks 10.10.1.100:1080 Click "ok" When everything is done, send an SMS message to "144" "ACT VL" ================================================================================ The above may or may not be any help to you - if you get something that works, please post it, and I'll try it when I return to India in a few months. Or, you can pay the rupees to get high speed access, which seems to work perfectly without doing any of the above!
