Guest MrJoneswii Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Instead of making a new thread I'll just post here. I'm after the same answer. PDA:I900DTHJ5/DTHJ5 Phone: I900XXHJ1 If you want an official rom: DXHK3, latest, can be found on the official samsung site: http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp Select Philippines as country If you want a clean, lite rom with the same looks as the original roms: Taril's roms http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...rom-30-01-2009/ If you want an M2D rom, well, they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Read trough the member's comments in our rom section: http://www.modaco.com/category/368/i9x0-om...rom-discussion/ You will probably have several error messages when trying to flash to the official rom. Read this topic: http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...rsion-tutorial/ Might I add that flashing roms should be done carefully and you should be able to deal with the consequences if something goes wrong. To be as safe as possible: Flash only with XP machines and have a backup of your original rom. Hope this was helpful.

Guest Cyber2Fun Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Taril's latest (DXIA2) Has now the same battery power with DXHL3 plus it has the latest drivers. The best ROM atm in my own opinion is Taril's DXIA2. :)
Guest kamidadevil Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 How's your omnia's response after installing M2D above taril's rom? its working great i chose this rom coz it has all the builtin stuff + some other new useful things and in the end u r getting more than enough memory, iv instaled m2d/garmin xt and many other sw and still i have more than 50 mb available
Guest Tna Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 go to the samsung website and update to the latest UK rom. It is very decent and I am sure you will not be disappointed. However should you want to test the custom roms try Taril's new one for a start

To be as safe as possible: Flash only with XP machines and have a backup of your original rom. You say that, but I don't have a XP machine. I have two machines. One runs Windows Vista, and the other runs Windows Seven.
Guest Jeroi Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 You say that, but I don't have a XP machine. I have two machines. One runs Windows Vista, and the other runs Windows Seven. Where did you get your windows 7 machine or is it just beta? and how are you going to sync and upgrade your roms?
Guest Diggedy Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Taril's DXHL3 theeeeeee best excellent battery life 80 mb free storage u can easily customize with m2d 19b, everything almost perfect. but if u have DTHJ5 i guess ull have to first update to DTHK3 quick question about m2d. Is it just like a skin wwhere it uses all of the standard windows apps ie. clock and calendar. or does it come with its own. At the minute im running spb mobile shell with the manila skins as i like this kind of interface. Would installing m2d 19b be much different?
Guest thornofcarrion Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Hi! Please help me I am just new to Omnia, got a day before. Can someone please guide me what ROM is best and where can I get it. Currently, my set has XXHH7/BOHH5. I tried to read through many articles but its little confusing. Guest cheese_za Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Can you someone help me with the same issue as above: PDA: I900JCHH1/JCHH1 Phone: I900JCHH1 The phone was purchased in South Africa and that version does not come up on samsung's website as a valid version number. thanks
Guest liamwolf Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Where did you get your windows 7 machine or is it just beta? and how are you going to sync and upgrade your roms? Being that Windows 7 isn't out as a official product yet. You can guess its the beta. I'm planning on using my vista machine for roms. I can sync on Windows Seven with WMDC.
Guest liamwolf Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Now, I'm fine with upgrading to a official rom. I'm one for the saying "No Risk, No Reward." However, not with something that I just got. Its now more of "Calculated Risk, and Reward." I know that there is a Higher chance of bricking your phone by upgrading to a custom rom, and I know that their is a better chance of not bricking your phone by using XP. I'm using vista but I'm upgrading to official firmware. Could anyone tell me the risk I will be taking, and the chances of bricking? I'll take risks. So I'm not really worried about that, and it won't stop me from upgrading. It just something that would be good to know.
Guest thornofcarrion Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Hi! Please help. I have i900XXHH7/BOHH5 what should I do? Whats the best to use?
Guest kamidadevil Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 quick question about m2d. At the minute im running spb mobile shell with the manila skins as i like this kind of interface. Would installing m2d 19b be much different? m2d is a bit different then spb, m2d is basically the htc touch ui for omnia, u can also customize it wid diff themes as well
Guest Tna Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Hi! Please help. I have i900XXHH7/BOHH5 what should I do? Whats the best to use? as i said before, and probably you didn't read, go to the samsung website and update to the latest official version which is very good compared to what you have at the moment. THEN if you don't like it try the custom roms (e.g. tarils) BUT, try the new official FIRST
Guest liamwolf Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Heh, I actually ran into a problem while trying to change the version number like displayed in that tutorial above. Regedit wouldn't allow me to go to "CurrentVersion". So I couldn't update to DXIA2.

Guest meabigbaldguy Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Hello Everyone, I keep reading about Taril's praises, so the guy's (or girl's?) stuff must be good. However, I'm having a difficult time finding a link to his clean "DXHL3 Final" ROM that I've also read much about in this forum. Can anyone provide me with a link to download this ROM? Mediafire preffered if possible. I'd like to try this out, but if anyone has any suggestions as to another one of Taril's ROMs, then I'll consider those as well. Thanks!!!
Guest liamwolf Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 I've ran into a problem. Okay, I tried updating using both XP and Vista. I've done everything that that post said and I don't get the incorrect software error, and it verifies that I have the right image. All like it suppose to, and then I click "Click okay to restart device" I click okay it restarts my device and nothing happens. I know you're suppose to wait, and I did I waited for an hour and it just hung on the rom updater and nothing happened. I'm talking about on my computer not my phone (By The Way) nothing was happening on my phone either, and it was just displaying the widget menu. I had everything plugged in correctly and I did everything and it just sits there and does an hour of nothingness. Is there a way to troubleshoot the downloading, and updating of the rom, and/or did someone already have this problem. If so is there a way to fix it?
