Guest Stevenh Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Just a note for those who don't already do it... you should hard reset your device after flashing to a new ROM to avoid any instability issues. The last ROM i flashed to kept crashing with M2D and it was very consistent even after soft reset. After a hard reset, it has not crashed again since. My friend also has his flashed but didn't apply hard reset, now he gets errors from time to time and is generally not very stable. Now whenever I flash new ROM I always hard reset before and after the update to make sure everything is nice and clean :( Steven
Guest shokka9 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 the more time you hard reset after a flash the better, it is also advisable to hard reset before a new install too. It gets rid of files from current ROM too (and many apps that you would of installed into it). If you cook like, me, sometimes, it is not necessary (but recommended) to hard reset only to test something works. I usually hard reset before testing, and when i have finshed and i have flashed the finished product. Most chefs recommend you hard reset before and after a ROM flash ( i do anyway). Take care people.
Guest abuawab Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 good advice but will it affect the extended rom ?
Guest shokka9 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) no. (i think) Edited February 11, 2009 by shokka9
Guest bobobird Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I think a reflash always does at least one hard reset ie "need to restart" dialog at the startup green screen ??
Guest shokka9 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 thats not really a hard reset (kinda soft reset) to take some of the changes the ROM build does.
Guest bobobird Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 A hard reset goes through the same reboot dialog sequence so can't say for sure ... But after so many months of flashing, my head is in some sort of auto "hard reset after flash" mode. :(
Guest shokka9 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 best mode to be in. depending on what i have done before my final flash, i will hard reset twice. it may be extreme, but i have NEVER had any type of error on my omnia. Apps might not work etc etc, but not had any on screen errors as seen by some people (GWE one springs to mind) Safe flashing is the best!!
