Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 [teaser] Asus and Garmin, what a combination! Well, these two powerhouses have combined forces of late to produce some funky looking Sat Nav phones. Their latest one is powered by Windows Mobile and although it's specs won't set the world on fire, they're pretty decent:Microsoft Windows® Mobile Professional 6.12.8", VGA 640 x 480, 65K, TFT - Not massive, but certainly usable B)Qualcomm 7200A 528MHz CPU4GB or 8GB storage3MP camera with auto-focus and geotagging3.5G (7.2Mbps) 900/2100, 2G 900/1800/1900 (Asia/EU) - No tri-band HSDPA?!3.5G (7.2Mbps) 850/1900, 2G 850/1800/1900 (USA)802.11 b/g WLANBluetooth 2.0+EDR95.3 x 52.5 12.8 mm99g (including battery)920 mAh Lithium (replaceable) - Bit small?AccelerometerNot mentioned are how much RAM the device will have, whether it will have any kind of SD slot or the GPS chipset - not that it really matters. The device will, of course, come bundled with Garmin's own flavour sat nav software, along with a pretty sturdy looking car mount. It would also seem that the device will be available in a choice of colours, which is nice :( Pricing and availability is yet to be announced but expect more info in the coming weeks. More pics and a comparison after the break...[/teaser]
Guest Monolithix Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Looks nice, shame about the screen size though! That coloured bar on the side is a nice touch too, but could make it a bit chunky?
Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I could be wrong here but looking at it, i think the whole battery cover just wraps around on the one side. Bit pointless but nice to have a splash of colour!
Guest NuShrike Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) No tri-band 3G for a GPS device that's meant to travel is a bean-counter FAIL. Having MSM72xx on-board curses it too. Edited February 12, 2009 by NuShrike
Guest finisterre Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Has it got a scroll wheel? I'm sticking with my Vario II until someone brings out something with a scroll wheel.
Guest Jasonkruys Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Doesn't look hugely dissimilar to the HTC Victor :(
