Well, it's been a while now, but my stint on s60 is coming to an end, and on the 25th of Feb I'll be getting my Touch HD on Orange.

Have spent the last few days getting hold of some essential apps, getting updaes for the ones I bought when I had my last PPC, and ordering the essentials (screen protectors, car cradle, car charger etc) and generally being really impatient about having to wait :(

One thing which I am finding a real split of opinion on so far, is should I stick with the Orange ROM, or flash it with one of the cooked versions available. I have no idea how Orange are for bastardising the devices recently, the last few I have had were flashed with vanilla wwe ROMS within a day or two.

Any opinons? I ask here because last time around, most people seemed to be on Orange.

TIA

I'm a newbie to window mobile so i can't really compare. But the orange rom doesn't seem to have much rubbish on there. Certainly comapered to my old '3' K850i that had loads of branded rubbish.

But, if it is suggested to change roms, can you please explain why and what the benifits are.

Well generally speaking, cooked ROMs incorporate newer updates and application versions than the standard ROM you get from the service provider. Many are based on the SIM free variants and include some extra *must have* applications in ROM to help save on space. and registry tweaks that may improve performance or enhance functionality.

What I am more interested in though is how Vanilla the Orange ROM is, and if it has any issues that warrant flashing it. I would hate to get things how I want them, and have all my apps installed and then a few days later decide I need to flash it and do it all again.
