phone reception boost

Im on vofdaphone UK and reception is appaulling in some places and often jumps from their 3G network to their 2G network.

BUT found a way to get 100% reception (4bars) from 26% recption (1 tiny bar).

Turn the phone 180degrees so the phone is upside down, give it 10-20secs and the bars shoot up.

But what about when you turn it back normal? :(

The reception is one complaint that I have about the Omnia. In places where my old XV6700 (HTC Apache) would get four bars, the Omnia i910 gets about two bars. And I have noticed it occasionally switch back to 1x while connected to the Internet.
