Guest boomster Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I need to replace my screen (Digitizer). Does anyone know if there is a guide or movie on how to take apart the Omnia? Thanks Hi just follow the manual that was provided in the link above. I just changed my screen this week following that manual. It was a bit scary not knowing if i would mess it up but it all worked out. The manual does not tell you the procedure for changing it but rather how to disassemble the phone. for me i didn't remove my LCD screen cause i didn't feel it was necessary. It may seem like the touch screen wont come off but it is actually stuck on top of the LCD by some type of adhesive but that should be something you could overcome. Actually I felt like i didn't need to change my touch screen after i got deep into it cause i found that there was an air bubble with moisture in between the touch screen and the LCD. The reason I found for this was that in the area where that was found the adhesive had worn out and there was a gap. I changed it any since the new replacement screen had new adhesive on it anyway. Anyway have fun, you will have a feeling of great accomplishment when it is all done and it works like a charm. Peace-out

Guest djtosh Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 hi i need to replace lcd screen, can this be done with same tools, or is there a need for a solder iron or anything like that? thnx
Guest leighaus Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 hi i need to replace lcd screen, can this be done with same tools, or is there a need for a solder iron or anything like that? thnx u wont need to solder, the LCD will be just a miniature ribbon cable ull plug into the board. you will need a T type screw driver... T5 or T6 most likely (that should come with an LCD screen if u find one (let me know if u do, havent seen any online locally). its not too hard to change, u just need to be really careful with the ribbon cables. ive changed a few LCDs before, not on the omnia yet however... im getting a full replacement cover in the mail in the next week, so ill be pulling my omnia apart then... cant wait :D

Guest wellysm Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 HELPPP!!! I recieved the new cover for mine, everythign went smooth (i knew what i was doing even without the manual) thing is now.... the pick up/hang up, track buttons dont work!!! like the track pad still moves the mouse,, but when you press down it doesnt click. to trouble shoot whats happening i did the following: I realized aslong as the back part isnt on it works (back part as in the middle part before the batter cover). so then i also realized when you put that part on, and then just pry it very slightly apart it works. I assumed it may be pressure, but when i took out the buttons and left it bareback (so there was so much space and it was loose) i pressed the buttons...same scenerio so then i assumed it might be contact with the antena on the plate. so i put a plastic sheet...stills ame thing!!! I dont know what to do anymore. my old plate i had to melt to get the antenas out, since the idiot off ebay sent it without any of the antena wirings. any ideas? it seems right when it make contact, something happens that dissables all the buttons (expect the track pad movement) thanks
