Guest goodguy6 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 So near and yet so far. I installed the WM6.1 upgrade and the WONDERFUL Tweak Pack on my BJ II, and ICS works great on my old Fujitsu Lifebook. I also installed Active Sync 4.5 on the Lifebook. I just bought an Acer Aspire One, so naturally I want to use ICS with that machine also. I also installed Active Sync 4.5 on the Acer. Unfortunately. when I plug the BJ II into one of the USB ports, I get a Windows message saying that there was a problem with the install, and the hardware may not work properly. The BJ II and the Acer work great syncing files, BTW. The problem occurred when trying to connect with ICS - with the message: Check USB Connection. So what's wrong? All I can think of is that I plugged the BJ II into the USB port of the Acer previously when it was WM6.0 and I didn't have Active Sync 4.5 yet installed on the Acer. How might I undo any effects from that? Uninstalling hardware drivers? Help!
Guest bplease Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 You dont want activesync coming up when you try to use ICS. Go into ICS before you have the phone connected to the computer, hit connect, then plug it in to the computer. The computer has to see it as modem not a phone that it wants to sync with.
Guest goodguy6 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Ah, Hah! I had to install the Samsung modem driver pack on the working laptop before making the upgrade to WM6.1. Looks like I need to install that pack first on the second laptop, too. You dont want activesync coming up when you try to use ICS. Go into ICS before you have the phone connected to the computer, hit connect, then plug it in to the computer. The computer has to see it as modem not a phone that it wants to sync with.
