Guest ryboto Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 As the description states, my phone vibrates fine, but if I turn up the ringer volume, the phone neither vibrates or rings, even if I set the alert mode to vibrate+ring. I am using the M2D04 rom, and up until I attempted to set a song as my ringtone, the default ringtone worked. When I attempted to set an MP3 as a ringtone, the phone wouldn't ring, so I checked the ringtone settings, and the mp3 played back just fine. Still, when I recieve an incoming call, the phone acts like it's in silent mode, and all I get is a pop-up on screen. I've tried setting the phone to all of the other default ringtones, and while I can test-play them in the ringtone settings menu, they do not play when the phone recieves a call, no matter what volume the phone is set to. I've since deleted any mp3's I had added from the ringtone directory. It's quite annoying since I'll use my headphones at work, but as soon as I unplug them, and forget to adjust the volume to vibrate, I miss calls. With the volume up, I do hear sounds for the keypad, and mp3's play over the internal speaker, so I know that the speaker works. Please help!

I know that there is a script on the XDA forums that when S2P is launced it set the volume up and when its closed it goes back to vibrate.
Guest sefure Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 its not only you ryboto... i'm having the exact same issue.
Guest ryboto Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 its not only you ryboto... i'm having the exact same issue. that's good to know...I was gone for a few days, hence the late reply. I use windows media player for an audio player, and coreplayer for video. I don't want a script to switch it to vibrate, I just want my ringtones to work. I tried the volume menu thing that's listed in the sticky, didn't help. Still, zero ringtones will play when I receive a call.
Guest Supadan Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 its because of etiquette mode. You've prob turned your phone over at somepoint in time while the phone was making noise (Note that this includes ALL noise from speakerphone to tapping that little tab on the widgets, and everything in between.) It seems one way to bring the sound "back to life" is to just call some a number and hold your phone upright and try tapping spkrphone and keep messing with it as if u were tryng to turn etiquette mode. It shud work after a bit. Im not sure if turning etiquette mode off will help or not, but i leave mine on because i think its an impressive feature but once in a while ill get the sound block. Its annoying, but usually making a call to the "rejection hotline" once or twice while turning my phone upside down and then upside up with the speakerphone on usually does the trick. Hope this helps

Try selecting a ringtone. - Turning up handset but not ringer? When checking volume, make sure there are two volumes to set and THREE different profiles: On, OFF, Vibrate (or some version of this, depending on Rom) Well... say something if you've solved your problem ;-) pp
Guest Billou Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Tomorrow I've a same problem My solution find : Hard reset :(
Guest alvaroesc Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Hi. Sorry for my bad english. You don´t need hard reset. Just try this; 1) Put the phone on silence (no sound and no vibrate) 2) Call yourself with another phone 3) When it is calling, you must press on the speaker icon and volume up to the max. possible. 4) The next someone call you, it will ring. You can test it calling yourself again. I had this issue too, and a user named BDD gave me the solution.

Guest ryboto Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 sorry for the absence, had a long birthday weekend. Anywho, etiquette mode is not on, and like I've explained, ringtones DO play in the preview menu, all of them, even mp3's. I will try the suggestion made, hope it works!
Guest ryboto Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 tried the suggestion, when I receive a call, I attempt to push the volume up, but nothing happens, the volume doesn't change, it just makes the phone stop vibrating.

Hi ryboto. I think you are pushing the button to volume up, right? You don´t have to push it. You have to push the icon is together to icon battery and then volume up to maximun. In this call the volume wil not change, but the next times sound will work perfectly. But remember, first you have to put it in silence. Edited February 27, 2009 by alvaroesc

Called myself a second time with the volume now at maximum, and still, no audible ringing. Checked the settings, and sure enough, I can test play all of my ringtones just fine.

I´m sorry, it worked for me and many people. If you know some spanish, you can check here: http://www.htcspain.com/samsung-omniai900-...ran-t15462.html The last thing: You said me before "tried the suggestion, when I receive a call, I attempt to push the volume up, but nothing happens, the volume doesn't change, it just makes the phone stop vibrating." If the phone was vibrating you are doing it wrong. You have to put it completly silence (no sound, no vibrate)

If the phone was vibrating you are doing it wrong. You have to put it completly silence (no sound, no vibrate) Right, initially I wasn't putting it in silent mode, but afterwards I did. I'll go step by step, to see if I missed something, 1- turned thephone volume to "off" 2- called myself on another phone 3- when call was incoming, I manually adjusted the phone volume to the maximum using the on-screen mouse(ignored the call) 4- called myself a second time, without any adjustment to the volume(it was still at the maximum) 5- Phone doesn't do anything Now, does the phone have to be set to a specific ring type to get this to work? If and when I ever want my phone to ring, I'd prefer it vibrate and ring, so that's what I have it set to. Will this "fix" only work in strictly ring only mode?

It is the same I did. And it worked for all people with the same issue in the spanish web I said you before. I don´t know why it doesn´t work for you. If I were you, I would make a complete backup. After that, I would do a hard reset and after I would restore de backup. In this way, maybe if is fixed without loss all information or have to install all again. Edited February 27, 2009 by alvaroesc

Guest jbak98 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Thank you so so much!!! This had been bugging me for over a month!! Way I fixed it. I had vibrate and ring on and a random ringtone set, with all volumes set to max. I called myself from another phone and then when it starts to vibrate in your hand pressed the volume icon at the top of the phone. When you do this it brings up the normal Windows version of the volume controls. Then I manually scrolled the ringer volume up to full with my finger. Next time I rang it the phone rang and vibrated at the same time. I think this has something to do with the new System and Bell Volume setup which comes up when you hit the volume buttons on the side of the phone. This only appeared when I updated the firmware recently, and takes over from the normal windows mobile volume controls. Hope this makes sense and thanks again!!
