How to change start icon and text

I have done a search, and havent found much useful info at all.

I want to change my start button icon and the "Start" text too.

I dont want to have to run another program in the background just to change this stuff. Can i just res hack a dll file or something? I tried copying shell32.96.dll to my PC, but it gives me a "Access denied" error.
