Why cook for GrandPrix ??

Hi to all the cooks :(

My simple question is why all the ROM's were cooked for GrandPrix ?

The Omnia has the 'Change Language' utility with a .MLI file.

This file do not only change the language but also the Firmware !!!!

The advantage of this file is you can't brick your Omnia B)

Is it possible to create a .MLI file ???

do you have a how-to flash with this ?

already heard of it, but never saw a real use case.

if you can't brick your omnia with it, that means it cannot update the bootloader...

Well I've already updated mine with XKHJ3 found on the Dutch Site. Only copy the file in the root

of 'My Storage' and launch the utility.

it seems like it's like the update method of HTC devices, where the bootloader can update the phone from the SD card

and the system reboot before upgrading right ?

looking at the MLI file it contains all three files in one package: bootloader/PDA part and CSC so it seems that program updates everything! btw that mli file shouldn't be too hard to decipher, but I don't want to brick my phone with it :(

So it would be possible to cook ROMS and put it into an .MLI File ???

Yep I think it did a hard reset...

The reason I started this thread is to help those users with Vista 64bit and

minimize the risk to brick the phone (USB failure....)

It is quite simple to copy the .MLI file and upgrade from the Omnia itself.

I would be interested in the latest original english ROM.

cheers

I hope our master chefs are looking into this. Could be the ideal no-brick solution (and endless "how do i" threads).

And situation could get worse when Win 7 comes...

Thanks

sztupy .mli is it F Sharp extension?

Haha, it will definitely not be a 125MB F# file (and even if it was, it would scare the hell out of me). :(

Ok, it's not a F# file, thank goodness!

It's looks structurally similar to a normal grandprix ROM/EXE when I did a textual compare on the bytes, but was with a DZHK3, so many differences were expected. It still looked pretty close with that in consideration.

Perhaps this is what grandprix 'downloads' to the phone during the green bar step?

Great I see there is a real interest in this file.

But do the cooked ROM's also have the 'LanguageChange' utility or only the Dutch/Belgium/Luxemburg ROM's ??

cheers

Well the ROM in the MLI file has it, and I got it in the XKHH9 I think.

Or can I find the application anywhere in my folders ???
