Use Talkonaut for free chat & voice chat to Google, ICQ, MSN, AIM and Yahoo users!

Alright. I downloaded Talkonaut last week and really like it. It is a fantastic Chat application for WM that lets you use your existing Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, AIM or Yahoo account on the go.

Ignore this crap, I got it working see below!

I use Google Talk to chat with my friends. Talkonaut does just about everything that the google client in gmail can do (accept invitations to chat, send files, status chages, abbilty to create new status,go invisible, "other person" is typing information).

It is supposed to be able to do free voice chat as well, over GPRS or WIFI connections. This is the only part of the application I can't get to work right. I would love to be able to quickly "call" to someones Google talk on their desktop, so they can let me into their apartment without wasting their cell mins.

Has anyone else got this to work, or can share any other experiences?

I can call from my mobile Talkonaut client, but when the desktop user clicks "accept" my mobile won't ackknowledge and will eventally just give up with the call.

In the reverse, the desktop client can call, but the mobile client never notices anyone is calling- so I can't accept. No Dice.

Tried both situations over Wifi and GPRS with the same results.

OK- I got voicechat with gTalk working now. Apparently I was the only one who didn't know that Google Talk and Gmail- Chat with Video and Voice chat are two different things! So once I downloaded the actual google talk app for win xp everything has been working like it should.

I tried Nimbuzz and it works very well. It only seems to let you select Available, Busy or Invisible for your status though. Also it will erase any custom status you've created. However, It lets you change the volume for voice calling in the program which is kinda nice.

I like Talkonauts interface a little better. Also, it lets you set more google status and tells you if the other person is typing. However the keyboard trips up a little when you select a word from t9. Also You can't change the volume for voice calling, but you can chage the quality of the Voice calls.

Talkonaut also lets you makes calls via Voip to an actual, real phone # or another Voip number- but you have to purchase credits to use that. No thanks.

The vibrate doesn't seem to work with talkonaut either. Thanks for the reply!

Note: To download Nimbuzz for Omnia, check here. For your brand select Windows Mobile , then Pocket PC.
