Im looking to upgrade my Creative Zen basically because its dead....plays all my ongs bu wont add anymore - its 8gb and only 2gb is used.

Anyways,

I was looking for around 8GB that i can sync with Media player from any PC (work and home) not really fussed about appearance.

Have seen a few cheap ones on ebay and amazon but they are just that, cheap and nasty so i was hoping that you kind folk coudl recommend something to me.

Price, not too expensive...dont want to start spending 100+ quid on 8GB when i can get more than 8 for that price...just dont need more than 8!

Thanks,

M

I like the Zune but price wise it's at the top end of what you prefered not to pay.

Also it's technically not available in the UK but there are sellers around who have them.

Deciding on an MP3 player is quite big decision, do you go for quantity or quality? I've had a Sony NW-HD5 now for over 6 years, beautiful device, and the sound is excellent combined with a good pair of earphones it's an awesome player. Currently you can get a Sony NWZ-S639FR for under £100.

If you want expandable storage have a look at Sansa Fuze 8gb this has expandable memory in terms of a microSD/microSDHC slot. Another device worth looking at is a Samsung YP-Q1JEB/XEU a 16GB device.

Hope that helps! B)

I've been using a Sony MP3 player for two years and I am very satisfied with it. It has a storage of 2 GB and the sound is fine. I am thinking about getting a second player, maybe an IPod Nano or a Samsung YP-Q1, to have a comparison and a player with bigger storage that can be used as recording device.

I would recommend getting a new player, players with 8 GB aren't that expensive anymore.

iPod - every single time!

They're not expensive anymore - with nanos at just over £100 at £107 but you could always ebay.

They really are the best MP3 around - they're not the market leader in MP3 players for no reason.

It does mean you have to use iTunes, something I didn't want to do as I was a windows media player fanboy, but since then I've never looked back. It really is superb. It's ability to instantly create an MP3 of a file was enough to impress me! (Simply right click and chose create MP3).

It will also import all your existing music for you and will even offer to keep your music folder organised!

EDIT: That's £107 for the 8GB model too!

It's an idea but the battery life would make it a no go unless you only wanted to listen for a short while.

My 8GB Zune lasts me a good a 10hrs at work, no WM device would do that and still be good as a phone.

I do 12hr shifts and depending what the job is the music is on.

Other days it's on for a few hrs here and there and then lasts a couple of days.

Depending on your needs, you may want to consider purchasing a phone with an MP3 player in it. One of your best options for many reasons(e.g., expandable storage, long battery life, etc) is probably a windows mobile phone. I have the HTC Touch Pro and I have literally thousands of songs on my expandable SD memory cards.

Sony and iPod are both the good choices. Best sound quality. But when you add songs in iPod, you should use the kind of apple program, it might not so convinient.

Anyway these two still are good choices. :D
