Guest kill your phone Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) There are many things that are frustrating and inexplicable about the Samsung i910/WinMo 6.1. The latest, rating this post: I have a 545k photo on the storage card. I want to set it as a Today background. When I try, I get the message: "Error not enough memory to set image as Today background". Under settings>system>memory>storage (main): total 88.17MB in use: 80.58MB free: 7.59MB Can someone explain this? Thanks. Edited February 26, 2009 by kill your phone
Guest maf107ezk0 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Well, after you set it as a background, the image is saved in the /windows folder under a strange name that I don`t remember :( That`s why... You need to empty some memory...

You need to empty some memory... Thats what I dont get. See below: 7772kb - 554kb = 7218kb There's a ton of empty space available. WTF?
Guest zagzag99 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 It could be that you use a JPG as wallpaper ? I'm not sure it's like this in windows mobile, but we are all familiar with this in Windows, that when you select an image to be as wallpaper the device stores it as BMP, so you 500KB jpg can turn out to be a 4MB bmp. I suggest you try it with another image file.

I suggest you try it with another image file. that was a jpg taken by the i910. I tried 4 others- 939k, 1.03M, 1.14M, and 898k and they all set as a background, But the 545k jpg I had taken of the PC, edited in Photoshop (1470x1920). The 898k jpg that I kept as a background also had been edited (1100x14737). So what the error message meant was too many pixels, not "not enough memory". I dunno. With the 898k background, free memory was 5.79MB. I replaced it with the "default image" in Theme Maker and the free memory dropped to 5.39 free. I give up. Thanks!
