Guest Paul (MVP) Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 http://blog.vufone.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/vufone.jpgIf there's one thing that MyPhone is likely to do, it's likely to shake up the activities and business models of third parties with competing services. These companies include Dashwire, Sprite Virtual Mobile and now vufone. Each of these companies have different pricing models - Dashwire is free, Sprite Virtual Mobile is subscriptino based and vufone is subscription based with 1 year of service free if you sign up by 1st March. So what is vufone? The vufone service offers: Regular automated backup of your phone No cables needed, over-the-air backup Safe copy of your mobile information on a secure server Contacts, messages, calendar, photos, videos or smartphone documents Restore to any new phone brand or model http://content.modaco.net/imagewell/vufone.png Get your Microsoft Outlook meetings or Google Calendar on your phone Automatically synchronize Microsoft Outlook contacts or Gmail contacts to your phone Synchronize your Microsoft Outlook tasks to your phone Use your phone contacts in Microsoft Outlook or Gmail Manage your phone contacts and calendar on the web Upload your camera phone pictures and videos and view them online Create online albums and show them to friends and family over the Web Send your pictures and videos to friends phone Upload your mobile photos and videos to your favorite social network Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, YouTube View your photos online in full quality Upload songs to your phone over the web MyPersona – make your picture appear on your friends phone when you call them Turn any web picture into your phone’s wallpaper Listen to your mobile music online Send cheap text messages from the web Sounds very much like Microsoft's new MyPhone with extra bits no? ;-) In theory yes, in practice the product is more polished and more featured than the Microsoft offering (as well as supporting non Windows Mobile phones) and it's certainly worth signing up for a free 1 year subscription! To get started, head on over to the vufone website before 1st March! P
Guest deadphill Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Might give this a try as its free. I liked dashwire but it slows down my device so much I only tend to use it if I am really desperate, and it doesn't store text messages which is a pain. Hopefully this runs well and doesnt stop me using my device. Will be interesting to hear other comments. Cheers Phill
Guest itsnotmeeee Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I setup an account and received message to download. I have an O2 XDA Serra aka HTC Touch Pro, and although this is listed as supported, I am unable to use the service as when it attempts to download it tells me my device is not currently supported. I've contacted support, and will update you all accordingly. Anyone else had issues?
Guest visionx Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Spoke with the vufone team and apparently this is due to the huge variation of Window Mobile http headers. The simplest way to override this problem is to download the phone backup and sync agent directly from their direct download page on their blog. /Vx Edited February 28, 2009 by visionx
Guest mwright Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Whoops - missed it by a day! Tried to sign up and got the 15 day trial instead. Shame because I was trying to get rid of Dashwire and not really happy with MyPhone. Ah well!

It's looking nice so far. Nice touch: If you logon online (on your PC/NB). Update a contact, and hit sync. It activates the app on your wm6 device, and sync's
