Change bandwidth 3G <-> GSM900/1800

Hello guys,

To save battery life I have 3G switched off most of the time and it really extends battery life a lot.

But for web browsing i need to turn it on. It is really annoying to do this manually.

When i type *#2263# in the phone keypad, it brings out the menu to select bandwidth. I noticed that the exe it brings up is TestMode.exe in Windows directory.

But when i just open TestMode.exe from windows, blank screen just turns up. I think there is some switch that need to be added to TestMode.exe. What could it be?

My intention is to make skschema scripts when I open web browser, it would turn on 3G.

You could try Settings - Phone - More - Band Selections.

Yes, that is also possible, but i want to automate the process, so that way it would be difficult.

Difficult: yes, impossible: no. I have done that using Mort Script. My solution uses automated mouse clicks etc. to switch the band. A litte bit ugly but it does it's job. I can upload the script here if desired.

Desired? of course it is desired if it works - even if its ugly!

Take a look at "gprofile". It manages profiles for the radio settings and sound settings based on custom rule sets.
