Program to give the camera priority?

I was wondering if there is some kind of program or macro that can give the camera as much memory as possible, so that it will run smoothly. I ask, because when recording video, it sometimes jitters and doesn't record smoothly. This is without any other programs running, running on M2D. It tends to be more stuttery when I forget to exit apps and run the camera. So ideally I'd like something to close all non-essential processes when the camera goes on, then turn the back on again when it exits. That would probably be pretty tricky, but a program that does the same so I can run it before running the camera would do.

Can anyone help?
