Guest sid0101 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) So, I was over at the XDA developers site and azharsunny came up with a tweak to get Winmo devices feel more like an iphone/itouch so that the screen responds to less pressure. I'm not talking about kinetics, just simply the amount of screen pressure needed for the screen to respond. It seems to work well. A cab is attached that would gives better performance, including touchflo. EDIT I took off the attachment because after conversing from our friends here, it seems that it might not work with our Omnia even though it says that it should work with all WM 6 devices. It looks like it comes down to Click and Updown in the Devicemap/Touch string in the registry. Edited March 3, 2009 by sid0101

Guest WoZZeR999 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 I tried it, didn't notice any noticeable difference. I didn't really see a problem with the response anyway, and they could have been taking care of from 'Favorite Hackings' designed for the Omnia.

When I went back to 'Favorite Hackings' and clicked increase sensitvity it asked if I was sure because it would decrease sensitivity to 1280/256.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) Edit: scratch that, it only said that because 'Increase sens.' was already set. If you enable increase sens again, and attempt to disable, it will say the same thing. Edited March 3, 2009 by WoZZeR999

I was wondering the same thing, but then I started thinking about what increased sensitivity really meant in the favorite hack program. Is that really treating the matter of pressure threshold and finger pressure or is it just kinetic sensitivity?
Guest Adrynalyne Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) I've not studied it, but I would think its increasing click and updown registry settings in favoritehackings. The ones contained in this cab don't even exist on the Omnia. There is no HKLM/Drivers/TouchPanel, and maybe M2D changes this, but there usually isn't a HKLM/Software\OEM/TFloSettings either. Hence my skepticism and why I opted not to try it. The only two things that are adjusted are in these two entries. There is nothing more to the cab than that, aside from a text file. You my friend are quite right in that it these setting may not even work. However, about increasing the Click and the Updown in registry, I am not quite sure. Are you sure its not lowering the value? I tried lowering the value it seems to work better. Care to help me test the theory?
Guest Adrynalyne Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Sure I will install it a bit later and play with it :(
Guest dwallersv Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Changes to the Click and UpDown registry values are already well-known to improve sensitivity, and have been discussed here before (search, gang). They are not under the same key as described in this thread, which is why that cab doesn't work. I made the changes described in the prior discussions, and it a very noticable effect (improvement).

Yep. You are quite right. However, the original post was not about the Click or UpDown registry, but instead of the cab. Anyhow, on the subject of sensitivity, I had to actually lower my my Click and UpDown. So, I guess the new question I am posing, is whether or not the values should be decreased or increased for better sensitivity. In addition, the topic probably should be closed and continued in: http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...problem-solved/
