Sometimes unable to make or receive any calls

Hello Everybody,

I am new to the forum as well as to Samsung Omnia's. My former phone was an Imate Ultimate. I have had problems with my Omnia because sometimes it does not make any call and when called does not accept any. Each time it had happened, I have reset the unit and it recovers from this cataleptic stage.

First I thought it was Vito's Voice Dialer, uninstalled it, but problem appeared again. I am using SPB Shell.

Does anyone have experienced this problem? Any hint how to definitively resolve it?

Did you start to have this problem after doing a Hard Reset of the main memory only? I am having the same problem and I've just done a full hard reset by going to Settings > System > Hard Reset > Clear Memory and I can make calls again. Will see how it goes during the day and will keep you updated.

Problem started unexpectedly. At any moment I picked the phone, try to make a call and it does not work. Took another cell phone, called myself and the call was not received. I did a soft reset and it started working again.

My problem is that I am not able to determine when the phone is under this special condition, so I am not sure if it is receiving call or not.

I returned a brand new Omnia a month ago with the same symptoms because soft reset did not recover the control over the phone. Only a hard reset allowed the phone to make and receive calls. Today I think it was not the phone, I blame Vito voice dialer for this situation.

Try switching 3G off on your phone, worked wonders for me!!!! some areas are just really crap with 3g reception

Second vote for 3G. But in my case it isn't about crap 3G coverage so it's more likely a crap 3G radio chip in Omnia. No other phones have done that (maybe once or twice but not once a day!). I wouldn't have bought a 500 euros phone if I knew I must manually switch to UMTS to use fast data connection and back to GSM to be able to receive calls.
