Hi guys, just got an omnia as an upgrade on vodafone and find it really good but want to know of any essential upgrades to make it run better, smoother and increase its functionality.

I've read through some of the posts on here and find it all a bit confusing as its my first windows mobile so not sure what to make of all these ROM updates etc. Any input and advice would be highly appreciated

will look into this for u, if u only just got it should be fine.. how ever i checked mine and says virsion incorrect !! and this is on the samsung website !

i have updated my software version on the phone as mine was not the newest version according to the samsung site. i have also installed spb mobile shell as recommended by people. do i need to use a custom ROM too or is it just personal preference.

once i'm familiar with the phone i want to have good media capability, sat nav and good contacts management, and also for the device to look good with nice screens :(

Customs Roms are mainly when u are quite familliar with the Win Mo interface, after that u can choose custom roms as per your needs. customs roms are mainly firmwares based on the official firmwares but modified, like some apps are removed and others added (aps that needs to be intergrated in the system).

Since it is your first WM device, I would advise you to play around and get to know ur fone pretty well before u decide to upgrade to a custom rom, then it will be easier for u to understand half of the things people talk abt, apps and roms here.

Anyway welcome to the WM world and know that the Omnia is a wonderful device!

right guys, had the phone about 3 weeks now and loving it. added a few things from here and running spb mobile shell with imarch themes, going to work on custom backgrounds too soon i think, if i can work out the way to do it. also got resco contact manager and file explorer to aid with file management and regedit. is there anything else i should consider installing.

i also need to find a good sat nav which also has option of u.s maps as off to florida soon and want to use it there.
