manila2d 19b question - how to change default version of googlemaps?

I installed sztupy's all in one 19b .cab for manila 2d.. works great, but the default version of google maps that comes pre-installed is v 2.0xxx. The latest google maps is 3.0xx.. i downloaded and installed 3.0xx to my storage, but when i go to the maps tab in manila2d, it still references and opens the old v2.0 (stored in phone memory). i went thru the registry and tried changing all references from v2.0 to v3.0, but i still can only open v2.0 from the tabs. (v 3.0 works normally if i open it from start > programs).

the only way ive found to go around this is to install v 3.0 to the phone memory, but that takes up a ton of space ( i guess 3.0 is larger than 2.0). is there any way to change the directory that m2d searches for the google maps .exe file? i also tried using M2DC but i couldnt find any useful setting for this problem

ALSO .. same question but with youtubeplay (the one that comes with m2d 19b is v 1.008, but the latest version of the program is 1.0011). i would like it if i could change the default directory that m2d looks in for youtubeplay as well..

thanks for any tips

Edit - forgot to mention im doing this on the i910

If there is a way to change the actual filename that is opened by m2d, I was thinking you could create a shortcut (named GoogleMaps.lnk or something) and it put in /program files/GoogleMaps and have it pointing to the actual google maps exe on "My Storage" or the storage card. Is there any way to do this in registry or would you have to hex edit the M2D exe file? All thought I don't know how that would work with passing search strings to it from the Maps tab.

thanks.. i tried looking at the m2d .exe file in my windows directory, but i couldnt find anything that remotely resembled google or googlemaps.exe. anyone have any other ideas where i can look? xml file maybe, or another exe that controls the google maps tab?

ok so i made some progress on the youtubeplay, but not on google maps. i was able to get the newest version. i used PHM regedit to go to \HKLM\software\HTC\manila2d\internetwidget\customized. here, all i had to do was change the "customizedURL" key to "\my storage\program files\youtubeplay\youtubeplay.exe and wait 30 secs, then soft reset. now, when i open youtubeplay from manila 2d, it opens up the newest version i installed (v. 1.0.0.11 instead of 1.0 0 8 that came preinstalled).

ok fine easy enough, and i was hoping the same idea could be used for google maps... only there is no such key, or even a similar key that i could find. i already changed everything else in the registry that references googlemaps to the one in my storage, but still nothing. i then tried creating new keys in the \hklm\software.... \location' directory (i created customized and then "0" to mimic what i found in the youtubeplay directory). i then created new string values for customizedurl, but it didnt work.

anyone got any other ideas?

Maybe you can try to install a new googlemaps version and than copy the new files in the folder where the old was was/is installed?

My rom has the latest of both :D

Easiest way to do it if you have already flashed to the beta rom.

I'm also imterested in this, since I cannot use any rom (yet!)

Yeah well I'm with Bell, it's basically the same network, but I don't know if it would work. The phone is very new to these carrier, they starting selling it like 3 to 4 weeks ago.

So what do you have in mind?

Well, going on the understanding that Telus users who have flashed to Verizon can still boot, but have battery issues, it seems reason to stand that I could take my rom, and put the Bell drivers in it (like for the battery), and it would work. I don't have any of the provisioning info for Bell though.

Verizon has provisioning cabs floating around, maybe there is one for Bell too?

Of course, its an extremely risky prospect if you don't have a working rom to flash back to if it goes bad.

Still, it could be fun :D

ok so install sztuby m2d version 21 (to the device) and install googlemaps to the device rather than the storage?

Google maps 3 takes too much space to be installed on the device. We have very few left after the Manila install and everything we could spare is a step foward!

This is enought to keep me away from this! lol
