phone switches itsel off automatically- why?

My omnia has switched itself off twice and then cannot be turned back on until i remove the battrey and put it back in?

Had a software upgrade done last week by CPW and since i am getting a mobile phone symbol with an exclamation mark when i switch it on and then disappears when the phone has booted- are they connected?
