Guest somerz82 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Skyfire browser now compatible with Omnia. Have you tried it and what do you think? I'm liking it so far but only downloaded it twenty minutes ago so hold this space.
Guest zagzag99 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Search "skyfire" in this forum , you'll see that you're running into an open door.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 It runs flash, and does a few things better than Opera, but I think the UI is terrible.
Guest sid0101 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 This is like the 3rd thread on the skyfire browser that is natively compatible for the omnia. Anyhow, IMHO, it sucks. The resolution is poorer than expected and it frequently disconnects and reconnects. It also seems unresponsive and doesn't fix the text on the websites when zooming it. I'd rather not have flash if it comes with all this baggage. Too much of a hassle to use.
Guest illusion786 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Very fiddley browsing. Screen quality is not so good.
Guest TheDrizzle Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 For me, Skyfire seems to render pages faster then opera and it supports flash 10 content, which is nice. The built in home screen it provides is pretty cool also. However the zooming is not nearly as smooth as Opera and the gesture scrolling is clunky and unreliable. I do switch back and forth, but I always find my self ending back with Opera in the end. Still, it is a beta project and it will get better, so I will be keeping my eyes on it.
Guest Chugworth Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 The problem with SkyFire is that all your data is being transferred through SkyFire's servers. That means I would never consider it for sites that require a username and password.

Guest TheDrizzle Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 flash 10? can you please try to play videos from hulu.com on skyfire Yes they do work; I have played them.
Guest somerz82 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Yeah i just noticed the other Skyfire topics, my bad! I found it to be a bit too fiddly with the touchscreen but if used with the 4way nav it became quite user friendly, so i'd use the t.screen to get to the part of the page i wanted to use then the 4way mouse to choose and click on my options, especially while playing texas hold'em, one of my fb apps. So all in all i agree with "the v" , one to watch.
Guest the v Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Yes they do work; I have played them. Finally after 2 weeks worked on hulu.com :( i don't get the message again of need flash player 9 or higher
