I really like the auto rotation that the Omnia provides, unfortunatly it doesn't play nice with some applications

So I was looking for way to exclude those applications, this brought me to Rotation Service

But this was much more than I needed and the configuration was not for me, so I build my own application...

Screen03.jpg

The top part will fill as you use the application, and when you select an application name (and click the button)

it will add it to the exception list (bottom part)..

that's it :-)

I still need to change some things, but it is usable already

Let me know what you think or what you like to see added.

I was thinking to add the 4 different modes, 0, 90, 180 and 270, per application, the reason is because of the below.

if you are going from an allowed application to a not allowed application the screen will

stay in that orientation, e.g. you are using App X in landscape, and switch to a not allowed application the

screen will stay in landscape.

edit, just a little more instructions.

The top part shows the applications that have been used, when you first start the program the top part is empty.

What I would do is run the program, and continue to use your Omnia like you normally would.

when you com across an application that should not rotate activate OmniaOrientation and select the application from the top part and click the add button

this will add an exception for that application.

Some application, like Manilla2Ddon't have a window name, you will need to add an empty string onorder to exclude this application, but please note this will exclude all applications which use an empty string.

hi - this app sounds great and exactly what i need. however, i wasn't too clear on the way it should operate. the programs on the top list are what you have running, and the programs on the bottom list should not rotate... is this correct? i am running m2d 19b and i dont want the main screen (i.e. today and any other tab that i have selected). i already have desktop listed on the bottom list, but my main screen still rotates. do you know how to stop manila2d from rotating?

I don't use Manilla2D but it should work the same as described above (I've edited the first post)

Could you give it a go?

tried it but still nothing. 'desktop' is the only thing that appears when im using manila2d, and desktop is already on the list, but it still rotates. just to be clear, manila2d is a theme that replaces the today screen, but it doesnt work on landscape.

Is there an installer anywhere?

I need to try it myself...

maybe because this apps checks application and not process. I agree to add 4 different modes for each application. However, thanks

there is an all-in-one cab file that installs it, however it's recommended that you install it after a hard reset, which you probably dont want to do :(

LOL you got that right ;-)

I'll try to install the cab on an emulator, maybe that works...

The M2D program is being displayed as an empty entry, so when you add this emty entry the M2D program won't rotate anymore.

BTW Great app!!!, just dunno why it's displayed as "empty", probably cz people don't wanna see the program appname itself in the caption/start bar.

Thanks that was what I wanted to check.

Please note that adding this empty entry will stop any application without a caption/appname

there is a txt file in the install directory which you can edit.

also don't forget to run apptodate one in a while ;-)

Hi Mr_Gee,

I tried your program and liked it very much! There is some kind of a bug that I found though, even though some apps aren't in the "auto rotate blacklist", they still don't auto rotate. Take Main menu for example - it won't rotate with the proggie on. There is a way to make it rotate - add it to the blacklist and remove it right after that, but when you minimize OmniaOrientation, autorotate still doesn's work. Same thing for File explorer, Skyfire, Programs, maybe more...

Also, maybe you should also add a start and stop button for the recording of the processes - the list can become quite large, if it records every start of each app.

Beside that, way to go! Was looking for something like this for some time.

[edit] My bad, was conflicting with Orientation Service, running in the background. :(

awesome ... added the empty entry and now it works. now just gotta use it for awhile to make sure there are no memory/RAM issues (i.e. make sure this doesn't use up a ton of RAM)

File explorer

Skyfire

Programs

-=edit=-

Just tested for the 3 above programs but everything works like it should...

btw what is the "main menu" you mention?

Already taken careof in version 0.0024 ;-)

It will add the application only if it is not in the list yet

This works well. I just wanted it to stop S2U2 from trying to rotate. There is a setting in S2U2 to stop the rotation but it was still trying to rotate which is annoying.

Is there a way to start this program minimized after a soft reset?

Thanks,

Jeannette

create a shortcut to it in your \windows\startup directory. you can do this either by hooking up your comp and thru activesync (explore pocket pc), or if you have a 3rd party program like total CE commander, i believe you can do it directly thru the phone

Thanks you for responding. I am aware that you can put a shortcut in the startup folder. In fact the program does that by itself on install.

It starts up maximized though and you have to close it (hide) every times you soft reset. Not a big problem as I don't soft reset that often but I just wanted to know if it was possible to have a way that would start it up in the background so I don't have to see it. In other words, it would work as a process in the background rather than a program.

[Edit] Problem solved.

Using Mortscript:

Run ("\My Storage\Program Files\OmniaOrientation\OmniaOrientation.exe")

WaitForActive ("OmniaOrientation", 5000)

Minimize ("OmniaOrientation")

Your Path may varie.

Cool you solved it already :-)

I'll try to see if I can add this functionality to a future version
