Guest jonestown Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 hello everyone. So i got an i617 BJII for free the other day. the guy who gave it to me got an iphone. but there is a catch. apparently he had fallen out of a boat with it in his pocket. and immediately removed they battery and then took it apart and let it dry before trying to reuse it. and it everything work on it except for one thing. when it idles the screen is white which KILLS the battery. the battery will last about 6-8 hours like this. i dont think it is a hardware defect. it seems like it could be some sort of bug. has anyone else seen or heard of this? if so are there any fixes? i tried a hard reset. my next steps are going to be unlocking it and trying to find something else that might fix it.
Guest Nottach Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) sounds like a short or something. was it salt water? try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. the insides i mean. Edited March 9, 2009 by Nottach
Guest jonestown Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 i dont believe it was salt-water. ill try the rubbing alcohol thing. thanks.
Guest b29pb Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 please update the thread i have the exact same problem but it just happened. No liquid involved whatsoever. I have tried the hard reset, format, update to WM 6.1, but the problem persist. please update your findings. Thanks
Guest b29pb Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 i opened my phone once again but this time i took the motherboard apart from the lcd and found some white corrosion on 2 spots. i assume that it has came in contact with water before, so then i cleaned it up with rubbing alcohol and tooth brush. After I left it for about 15mins I fire it back up and same problem persists. Any other idea? Does it work for your phone?
Guest Nottach Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 id assume that its ruined, maybe get a replacement lcd screen. i know others have replaced theres due to cracking it. sorry i cant be more help.
Guest Addd45 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 lmao that happened to me when i spilled sodas all over myself at work... I just bought another one because it had enough problems to begin with.
Guest chubs191 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 The same thing happened with me. I took off the front plate and put it in rice. That should dry it all out.
