Guest conocelo Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Hi there. My omnia has been shuting down himself many times a day. ranging from minutes or leave the phone for hours. I have try many many power setting with the same result. The omnia just dosent respond, i have to hit soft reset im order to revive it. I will try unistalling recently installed software. Have anyone has similar situations? my phone is a i900L from telcel Mexico.
Guest Omnian Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I had this problem before. A simple light knock to the phone and the phone disconnects power/shuts off immediately. Warm restart to turn on. After 2 trips to the Samsung service center, they changed the motherboard and I never had this again! I believe it's a hardware/motherboard issue. The way I tested was to hard reset/clear everything. Live with basic contacts only. Use it for a few days. If it shuts down again, then it's hardware issue.

If you wait long enough you can actually power on the phone then load up taskmanager and shut it down, but it will take a LONG time. If this is the case only thing I can think of is update the rom to the latest. Check the roms section for guides. You may need to change the region of your phone in order to update since you are in mexico. Good luck.
Guest conocelo Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 thank you for the responeses. After testing i think the phone get stuck only when wifi its on for large periods of time. I have had many WM device before (and flash them constantly), but unbranded, this is my first branded phone. I want to flash my device to a newer rom, but i want to have my original rom for backup in case of warranty with my telephone company. I think i haver made a backup of my rom 130mb or so. beacuse i havent find it nowhere. i was trying to exhuast all the posibilities to fix this before flashing my device. Witch rom do you recomend its dosent matters if it is in english (i prefer it). but it has to be compatible with my i1900L and 3g in america, 850mhz umts.

Tendras algun consejo para mi??

Tendras algun consejo para mi?? Well first of all, let's try to post in English so everybody can understand, or at least you can post in Spanish with an English translation. <_< In regards of your SIM card problem here's a few questions. Have you tried with other SIM cards? I recommend using SIM cards version 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 or higher. You can purchase a new SIM in Telcel for about $100 pesos. Are you sure your Omnia is SIM unlocked? If so, are you sure it's compatible with Telcel's 850/1900 frequencies? Good luck! RayanMX ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bueno primero que nada te recomiendo poner tus mensajes en Inglés para que todos los entiendan, o si gustas coloca también una traducción en Español. En cuanto a tu problema con el SIM... Has probado usar otra SIM? (850/1900) Suerte! RayanMX

Then I updated to new ROM WM 6.1 i900DXIF1 (which has been extracted from new OMNIA II as I heard) and everything is OK. Saludos K ;)
Guest bishop4142 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 My omnia 910 shut down and can only be restarted by pulling the battery. I narrowed the caused down to google maps, if I forget to exist the program when finished it causes the problem - at least for me Hi, exactly the same happened to me and update to ROM based on i.e. WM 6.5. didn’t work so far. Even when no other programs are active. It seems to be random and has not quite in the middle of using it. I called Verizon. They ran some diagnostics and determined it was not likely software related. They are sending a replacement phone. Fortunately for me I am still in the warranty period.
