Hi guys, I tried installing openvpn for pocket PC on my Omnia found here.

It seems that is unable to open a TAP/TUN driver and the connection towards my server.

The configuration is the same that I'm using on my desktop. Are there known problems on this software on the Omnia? A co-worker of mine uses the same configuration on the HTC diamond and it works.

Thank you.

Have you tried looking at OpenVPN logs?

Is the driver loading? If not, is your Omnia unbranded? Is the driver signed? (if yes, do you have the signing certificate added as trusted?).

edit: I just downloaded thee package and yes, the driver is signed...

Cheers (Ciao!!)

My Omnia is Wind-branded one. Where I am supposed to see if the driver installed is signed or not?

I paste here my logs (I just deleted the server IP):

During this connection, the TAP device is available, the 2 computer icon on the right-bottom of the screen is green, but nothing happens, and the log is like the one above.

If the conf file is launched inside the OpenVpn window, it opens a label with the name of the connection on the bottom, with the other labels, but then that sub-page is empty.

Thank you!

The driver appears to be in order, without correct security clearance from the OS it doesn't load at all, but your log shows that it is trying to connect to the server ... Are you using GPRS / HSDPA, WiFi or ActiveSync (sharing)?

Try different channels: seems just a (trivial) network problem.

Try also using a telnet connection to port 1194 (using putty) to see if it connects. Check also if the port used is the same on your desktop: during openvpn development (some years ago) the default port changed.

Ciao

It happens both with gprs/hsdpa and my wifi at home.

An openvpn port Is not testable with putty, because it's a UDP one, but I assure you that the same conf file put on my pc works perfectly.

Very weird, I don't know is there are issues with WM6.1/Omnia and UDP ... a good setup would be to install a OpenVPN server on your home pc and test it via LAN/WiFi. If you succed and find something please keep me (us) informed as I'm pretty interested in VPN and Omnia (I'm commited to another project right now, but I will perform some tests ASAP).

I fixed it! B)

it was the line "proto=" that was a problem. I added it because that was on the sample.ovpn provided with the program. I removed it and now it works!

I think there is a different implementation of that line between the classical openvpn and the pocketpc version.
