Now i have the week off next week and if im not too hung over im going to attempt to write a FAQ (yep i know its a big job but i rekon we need one) what i want from you guys is anything you can suggest as content here are a few things (off the top of my head) i was going to put in!

Begineers Section

- To include things like "how do i activate the speakerphone?"

Bugs Section

-To include things like "Only one email account that sux!"

Tips and Tricks Section

-To include things like "how do i use hotmail on SPV?"

Apps Section

-To include stuff like "Doom"

Advanced Users Section

-To include stuff like, application cert unlock and backup guide

(yes very similar to the modaco categories i admit!)

Your thoughts please!!!

DJ Hope

PS: This could be a waste of time maybe you guys think i should do something else with my week?

A FAQ would be cool!

I am planning some major improvements to the site when I get back from Redmond, so anything you feel like preparing would be welcomed!

Downloads section?

FAQ?

Beginners guide?

Cheers guys, ill start off with some serious research going through much of the forum no doubt, i think im in quite a good posisition since i have been posting on here since its birth hopefully ill think of some good stuff.

The only problem would be theirs so much content that could go into the faq i have no idea were to begin.

Anyways back to the revison for now got my last exam tommrow (yay) and after that i will be putting myself into a grave of drink and prehaps maybe something a bit stronger (well i am a student). If im still alive by saturday the FAQ is definately on!

I remeber one of my very first posts in the tips and tricks section was "various things ive found" which contained some good lil-tips, maybe ill start their!

Thanks again for the support,

DJ Hope

When you are finished, I am prepared to give you some web space to host it, if you need it.

Good luck for the exam Djhope.

I just had my last one today (which luckily went quite well... unlike the other 2) So I bought myself Motocross Stunt Racer as a reward ;)

Now no more distractions such as exams and the like, and down to some serious mucking around with my spv.

How about an "idiots guide" to using SPV as a Modem for Laptops?

I've read so much on this site (and others) that I am still totally confused!!

Does SPV work as a Modem - pre & post Danish update?

Does it work via USB - pre & post Danish update?

Does it work via IR (consistantly)?

Does it work on ALL versions of Windows, especially (in my case, ME)?

Do Orange provide "Support" for Modem use?

Do Microsoft provide "Support" for Modem use?

Do any whizz kids on this forum provide support for Modem use?

PS: I think this is a marvelleous site - I've read at least 95% of all posts in the last 7 weeks since I received my SPV, but most topics are way out of my depth.

PPS: My current understanding is that Modem via USB is now working after the Danish update - trouble is I dare not take the plunge to update to Danish - hopefully UK update (due in next few days?) will also rectify this bug??

This is my 2nd post in 7 weeks (1st was lost amongst the Danish Update thread). Guess I'm not going to progress to Site Manager (or whatever) - never mind, I'll just be delighted if I can get Modem link to work :-)

Thanks

How about something like:

Messaging Section:

Stuff related to configuring, sending/receiving SMS, MMS, Voice Mail

Email Section:

Setting up a POP3 account, syncing etc.

Multimedia section:

How to encode/compress mp3s?

How to encode videos? Best settings?

Ring tones:

How to create? where to store? n how to select? etc.

Home Screens:

Plug-in details, most common plug-in etc.

Hard resets, De-certs etc. etc. etc.

My main idea is to break the FAQ down to individual features rather than copying the forum layout. This way we'll have lot less repetitive posting as well.

Anyways just a suggestion.

And if you need help just ask.

Cheers

I bet Ornage include it in their updated release of manual when you've finished with it! You could I guess sell it as an alternative SPV manual/guide ;))

PS: or we can make an "Advanced SPV Pack" that would include a decent manual (can be electronic ver.) and a CD with all the apps/updates/games etc. all the freeware/shareware availible (as free extras) and ask for £10 as a donation towards cert. of some apps. That would ofcourse be a fee for further development and putting it all together. Not for the apps or other intellectual property.
