Guest Supadan Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) I FOUND THE SOLUTION! If only I had googled this question earlier... I had my suspicions but alas my suspicions were confirmed. Things needed in order to fix: 2 options: 1. If you have money or "other illegal" sources: SPB Pocket Plus 2. Nothing So pretty much 2x-3x text messages are being sent due to the fact that when you write a text whether it is threaded or not, you will probably close the text message with an end button or click the ok/x button immediately, correct? Apparently by closing the message box before it's sent causes 2 or more texts to be sent out. My guess would be because before you close it it sends one but because you closed it it "fails" to send one hence sending another txt. So the fix, whether using option 1 or 2, is essentially ensuring that you don't close the messaging box (whether threaded or unthreaded or sent using the mail shortcut) immediately but giving it a couple seconds to set before closing the box. So what's the fix? Option 1: If you have SPB pocket plus, simply go into home>settings>system>SPB Pocket Plus Then check the close button option box, highlight the close option box and click feature options. Then go to exceptions tab and click add and go to Windows>tmail.exe and add tmail.exe Click ok and voila~ You're set. You can close the text as quickly/as slowly as you'd like and you won't have to worry about 2x texts any longer. FREEDOMMMM B) NOTE: For those of you running custom roms with HTC's task manager: Your task manager button in the home screen WILL disappear. THE FIX? Go to settings>task manager (THE ONE WITH A WHITE ICON WITH 2 PAGES, NOT THE HEART MONITOR LOOKING THINGY IN HOSPITALS!!) And go to the button tab and uncheck the first box (enable the x button to end... although it should already be unchecked) and check the 2nd box (enable quick menu on...) And voila, you should be set to text and immediately push the x/ok button without having to worry about duplicate texts as well as have the htc task manager. The only setback is that you need to close messaging manually now BUT let it sit for a lil bit before clicking on the task manager and closing (2-3sec, but maybe 5-6 to be safe). And don't worry, just because we unchecked the first box doesn't mean everything will no longer close by pushing x/ok. It all will, just not messaging. Option 2: So you're broke or you don't know how to use google eh? Fear not, there's a poor/computerly challenged solution as well. Just simple don't close any of the messaging boxes for at least 5-6 seconds. If you're using threaded and replying, after pushing send, wait 5-6 sec before closing the dialogue box. If you're sending it and waiting for message sent, wait until the screen disappears completely and dont force an x/ok. And so forth. Leme know how it checks out. So far seems to be working pretty solidly. I have spb pocket plus and texted a friend who claimed she was getting duplicates here and there but sent her about 5 and all singles :-) My question: Perhaps someone will stumble that knows how to work with HTC task manager: How come we can't add exceptions within the options. There's no way we can add anything under that exceptions tab and if we could, it would make this whole process much easier. Anyone care to respond or look into the matter? I really don't want to leave the text message alone for 3 seconds
Guest darkside80 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Option 1: If you have SPB pocket plus, simply go into home>settings>system>SPB Pocket Plus Then check the close button option box, highlight the close option box and click feature options. FREEDOMMMM Isn't this the same thing as holding the x button to minimize the app instead of closing it for showcase users? Because a lot of custom roms have showcase included and could use it instead of installing another software. Will test this with showcase and see ;)
