Guest Talk2theHand Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Good day everyone, Just had an omnia a week ago Version PDA:i900DXIA5/DZHK3 Phone:i900DXIA2 Everything works fine and I have no problems whatsoever except recently when I tried to download emails via GPRS. After clicking "send/receive mail"..It seems to be doing something (connecting...) but a few seconds in it would say "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that the server name is correct, then try again to send and receive mail" 1.)I have an active GPRS connection. In fact, after the error message, I tried browsing the with opera and IE both and have connected to google (for the first time so it isnt in cache). 2.) I have the right settings for sending and receiving email and have continually done so without problems when connected via WIFI And after googling the problem for days, even asking around google discussion boards, I still have zero answers. Have any of you guys experienced this problem before? Any ideas what I have to do? Its really one of the main reasons i bought this phone so I could have my mail anywhere. And I'm getting frustrated having to find wifi hotspots to get my mail delivered. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance Edited March 23, 2009 by Talk2theHand
Guest Talk2theHand Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 This is what the error says exactly: "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that the server name is correct, then try again to send and receive mail" Now I'm pretty sure incoming mail server is correct since I've sent and received mail from the very same settings but with a WIFI connection. Stumped. B)
Guest koon75 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 On the Omnia the "outgoing (SMTP) mail server" settng, There is a link to go to "advanced Server Settings" Click that and under "Network Connection:" select "The Internet" instate of "My Internet"
Guest Talk2theHand Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks. I tried it but now it gives me a "cannot connect for an unknown reason" error
Guest koon75 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Do you have a "My Internet" setup in Settings/Connections. Settings/Connections/ Advance tap select My Internet. No sure this helps as i have no problem with GPRS and wifi email. Previously having GPRS sending email issue but was solve using this hot fix. http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...nd-imap-e-mail/
