Guest illusion786 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Whent to a site called Zinio.com which delivers digital magazines. I found that it provides iphones with free magazines via the web interface. I investigated a little further and loaded firefox, changing the user agent to iPhones found via the web, guess what i was able to view the free magazines in firefox :( I then realised we can take this oppertunity to view them in our Omnia's. This is how i did it. Makesure you have the 9.5 version with flash otherwise it wont load. 1. Load Opera Mobile 9.5 2. Type opera:config in the address bar 3. Click on User Perfs. 3.1 Find "Custom User-Agent”. You will need to scroll down a bit to find it. 4. Type in Mobile Safari 1.1.3 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) 5. Click save (you have to scroll a long way down for it) Then type http://imgs.zinio.com/iphone/ in the address bar and enjoy the free magazines Enjoy. PS I dont know if it has been done before if it has ah well. :( Also this is not illegal as all we are doing is changing the user agent and nor are we hacking as Zino is providing a free service. Illusion PPS Found another book reading site for the iphone use the same settings as above and enter the link below in the address bar www.textonphone.com Find stuff B) www.seeqpod.com/mobile/iphone.php#_home enjoy Ill add more stuff as i find them PPPs I love my omnia. Meh i dont think u can even change iphones useragent :( Edited March 23, 2009 by illusion786

Guest ivysaur20 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) can you take a picture of what eh website is supposed to look like when its loaded on the link you first mentioned. Just so I know what im supposed to get. When I went back to check ym spoofed user agent, it changed it back to "1". and not the iphone agent I typed in...yarrg Edited March 23, 2009 by ivysaur20
Guest illusion786 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 your on the wrong settings. you need to change the "Custom User-Agent" under "User Prefs" and not the "Spoof user agent settings"
Guest ivysaur20 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 got it working. Seems to be a little clunky to navigate through the mags. Maybe there is a companion program to download so you can auto screen size them and page turn. *shrug*
Guest illusion786 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Screen size is perfect on mine. Make sure you change the setting in the display options.
Guest MacAlert Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 It works, but all the other sites you try to access default to iPhone view. Kind of annoying and everything seems slow.
Guest aleis Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 um, are we supposed to be able to read the magazines? cause i see them...but when i click i get nothing.
Guest illusion786 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Yeah your suppose to read them. On top of the image there are to arrows left and right click on them to change pages.
Guest makk509 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Yeah your suppose to read them. On top of the image there are to arrows left and right click on them to change pages. I can view and navigate them but they're too small to read and blur if I use the browsers magnify function. Is there a view setting that needs changing?
Guest poedgirl Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Screen size is perfect on mine. Make sure you change the setting in the display options. Which setting are you talking about? All iPhone formatted pages I view are oversized.
Guest illusion786 Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Which setting are you talking about? All iPhone formatted pages I view are oversized. Arnt all standard web pages oversized on the omnia? Anyway enable Automatic fullscreen from options, and what i meant was i can read the text on my omnia clearly.
