Craigslist RSS feed on the i910?

So I'm playing with my Omnia i910 and I see it has an RSS reader. I thought "Great! Now I can get instant notification of those craigslist.org listings I'm always looking for."

To get RSS feeds on listings, you have to go to yourtown.craigslist.org, do a search, then at the bottom of the search results page, click the icon for RSS. If I do that on my PC, it gives me some options based on the RSS software I have (I think that's how it works, anyway.) If I do that in Opera on my Omnia, I get a screen of jibberish when I click on the RSS link.

I thought "Maybe I have to do this from within the RSS reader," but if so, I can't figure out what it wants. Does it want the URL of the search I performed? That doesn't seem right.

Has anyone tried doing this yet?

Thanks,

AON.

You need to add the RSS link into the application. First open the RSS reader and click Menu -> New Subscription -> Enter URL. To find what URL to use go to craigslist and find the page you want a feed from. For example if I want Computers & Technology in Fargo I would go to fargo.craigslist.com and click on Computer undor For Sale. On the very bottom is an orange RSS graphic. This graphic links to the actual RSS feed. Use that URL in your RSS reader (http://fargo.craigslist.org/sys/index.rss in my example). Check the Get a Feed Name and you should be good to go. Make sure to edit the way your reader updates to your liking. Good luck!

Many thanks for the reply. You know, I thought I tried that, but I must have typed in something wrong. I'm wanting to get RSS feeds based on a search in houston.craigslist.org. When I hovered over the RSS link after doing a search, I got the following:

I thought "That doesn't look like an RSS feed link." I guess I was wrong. Now if only there were a way to paste that link in to the RSS reader, that'd be nice... because that's a CHORE to type out. I guess I'm just being lazy. B)

If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions.

1 - I don't seem to see a way for the RSS reader to notify me of new items on the Today screen (I'm using the default Omnia Today screen.) Can it do that?

2 - If I go to the Task Manager and choose "End All Tasks" will I stop getting new updates? I guess another way to ask this question "Does the RSS Reader need to be running behind the scenes in order to work, or is it like ActiveSync and just runs no matter what tasks are open or closed?

Again, thanks for taking the time to help out a newb. RSS is still pretty new to me, so I'm probably asking some seriously stupid questions. I just can't seem to find the answers for them on my own.

AON.

Woops... I just discovered another question. Apparently the RSS Reader is waking up my screen every time it updates. That's a HUGE potential problem, as I carry my phone in my pocket. Lighting up the screen, thus allowing the screen to be touched, has resulted in all kinds of strangeness in the past. I took care of that by setting the screen off feature the be pretty quick, and also making the power button the only button that could wake it up.

I don't see anything that says "Don't wake during updates" or anything like that. Any ideas?

Can you lock the screen?

I use SPB Mobile shell and it has an option to lock the screen this way when it lights up it won't matter because you have to tap the screen and slide the unlock button before it will accept any input to the touch screen.
