Guest Man07Utd10 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I've recently been reading up on the Omnia, trying to decide whether or not to buy it. I just figured out there is a big difference between the i900 and the i910, in terms of customizing it with firmware, etc. Unfortunately I have verizon, so I would have to get the 910. Now that the phone has been out for 3+ months, does the 910 have the same roms and applications as the 900? Is it a mistake getting the 910 if it doesn't have the ability to be fully customized? thanks in advance!
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 same applications? pretty much, maybe with a few exceptions. There are no working modified ROMs for Verizon's i910. But it is still a stellar piece of hardware at a great price. Get it anyway (or the Touch Pro if you got the cash.) Only things worth buying from VZW currently. Theres PLENTY of customization available without ROMs. Just look around B) The biggest downside to the device currently is the non-working GPS. But we're working on that here, and VZW has said they are working on unlocking it by "the first half of 2009." While plenty of us are skeptical this will happen, we're hopeful, they did publicly release this info, and we're working hard anyway trying to unlock it nonetheless.
Guest Man07Utd10 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 i've tried google searching looking for i910 applications...is there a list somewhere? or should I assume that all the 900 applications will work the same? (S2U2, S2V, paul's list of freeware, etc.)
Guest TheDrizzle Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I have an i910 and found a whole bunch of good info from this forum and xda developers. Smilpak, a forum user here, put together a great comprehensive list of hacks/updates that will work with i910 http://knguyentu.com/wordpress/2009/01/ver...i900-unleashed/ I opted to install TouchFlo 2D (I used the 19b cab from here , there is a thread about that on the frontpage here as well). Its a cool UI, but takes up almost all of the memory on your "Device" partition. If could do it again, I might try spb mobile shell or ThrottleLauncher, which can do similar themes with much less disk usage. Also check out the "s2" applications from http://www.ac-s2.com/ . Some really cool stuff there, epecially s2u and s2p. Also get the HTC Sensor DLLs from the "games" thread ( here is the latest version, I think). This lets you use any accelrometer app that was written for HTC handsets. Somewhere in that thread you can find a version of "teeter" which is a fun little game that uses the HTC accelrometer. That should get you started anyway, have fun!
Guest pazatat2 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 DON'T get the touch pro while it is still good they made it weaker for verizon. omnia i910 and i900 almost the exact same. except we dont have custom roms yet. gps is locked to vz navigator. but its excellent phone with many perks that makes me not wanna give it up unless they come out with somethng extremely good. word of advice don't use a rom for the i900 on your i910 cus you will have a nice papper weight after you brick it B)

Guest tfmendonca Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I've had the i910 from VZW for about 4 months now and If I could go back I would not purchase it again! Although all the tweaking and apps make it a great phone, there are numerous faults with it. Poor reception being the major one, I continue to loose and miss calls due to a weak signal where as my Q had great reception with no explaniation from VZW. (Typical) If you still opt to get the phone this is what I currently run. Clear Temp, Highly recommended Windows Live Advance Confi tool Skyfire Pocket uno PPC Personalizer Task Bar ++ Wktask, another Highly recommended I contact, Highly recommended Adobe Plugin JBlend Key Swop Homescreen ++ SBP Mobile, User Interface a MUST HAVE LVM Top Battery HTC Album, Highly recommended Wake Up on SMS Touch response SPB watcher finger menu Slide to view SPB Weather PHM Registry, Use to tweak another must have. along with plenty of games. Hope this helps, it is a lot of work to get it where you need it to be, just to be user freindly. I wouldnt do it again.

I have yet to drop a call!
Guest shadowsjc Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 i've tried google searching looking for i910 applications...is there a list somewhere? or should I assume that all the 900 applications will work the same? (S2U2, S2V, paul's list of freeware, etc.) there is no such thing as a 'i910' app in the way that 'iphone apps' exist (unless youre referring to an app that allows for WQVGA resolution). if you google for "free windows mobile apps", the 910 will run almost any application that was designed for windows mobile 5+. as such, you have an almost limitless amount of progs to dl or buy (although most of the good ones are free B) )

But and WinMo 6.1 app should run on the Omnia, that means almost all i900 apps and many many others you can find in many different places such as those mentioned in here already.
Guest Man07Utd10 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 is there a free registry editor for the i910? if not, which one's the best/easiest to use?
Guest TheDrizzle Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 is there a free registry editor for the i910? if not, which one's the best/easiest to use? http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/ That one is freeware but not the most finger friendly. It's good enough for me though.
Guest ren74 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Also check out http://Read the site rules no warez links or requests/ for plenty of "free" apps for the I910/ I900 I also add mobiler to tfmendonca's list of Apps (control PPC from desk/laptop).
