Guest copperfield Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 (edited) Hello everyone :( , I am new to the WM devices and Omnia is my first such device and as much as I am amazed from its posibilities, specs etc., I am dissappointed from the battery life B) . So I decided to make this thread and to ask all you Omnia users out there if you can share your opinion about WHICH CUSTOM ROM (like Shokka's,Khuanchai's,Taril's etc...)IN YOUR OPINION IS THE BEST REGARDING BATTERY LIFE!!! And I want to know about the batt life when you actually use the phone rather than the stand by time :( couse a phone should be used not looked at, in my opinion anyway :( If you have any observations on that matter sharing it here will be much appretiated :( Thank You P.S. My complain is coming from the fact that with 10 min calls, no push mail, 1h music and 30 min games, 3G on and using it for like 20 min or less (but disconnecting when dont need the connection), no sms or gps I can hardly last the day! And I have tryed all kinds of custom reg mods that I could find in the net + screen backlight on 30% and using S2U2 but still no improvement (or if there was it was to minimalistic for me to notice it). And with GPS after 2 hours the batt indicator is down to 30-40%. Edited March 26, 2009 by copperfield
Guest joža Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I want to know too.... i'm really tired of charging my omnia every single day
Guest bpivk Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Well that would be hard to answer because it depends on what you're doing. How many apps run on your phone (on startup). Do you use wlan or gps? Passoa's rom has a battery life of about 7 days if i use my phone (phone only) and about 1 day if i play games so as you can see it really depends on what you're using the phone for.
Guest Jim McKenzie Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I use Taril`s DXIA2. I can say with around 30-40 phone calls per day and maybe surfing daily for say 20 minutes (mails, news, nothing more) and with Pocket Plus my battery lasts cca 2,5 days which is ok I think. I do have car charger so it`s not a problem.. I do believe that battery can lasts from 1 to 5-6 days depends what you are using your phone for so there really ain`t no exact evaluaton on battery life. I did use once some clean ROM and battery life was awful.. Every night I had to charge the phone.

So battery life is more dependent on how you use your phone rather than which rom you got inside! Couse all the currently popular rom's they are made on the basis of DXIA5 right

Couse all the currently popular rom's they are made on the basis of DXIA5 right True statement unless the cook really screwed up the rom. - Our great cooks would not do that. B) Ron...
Guest kdavidyates Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Taril's DXIA5 is the best for me. Seems to last about half a day longer on average than others I have used (i.e. about 3 days rather than 2.5 days, with the same usage).
Guest copperfield Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Our great cooks would not do that. B) Ron... Got that right :( But how wil you comment on the batt life difference between HJ1 and all the latest rom's ?!? The difference being that HJ1 had outstanding batt life while the others got from bad to worst ! http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=102891&st=10 post 18
Guest copperfield Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 (edited) How do you delete a post ?! Anyone ... (sorry for the offtopic B), newbie) Edited March 26, 2009 by copperfield

But he did ask about the IA5 everyone is using now, didn't he. And now most cooks are using WM 6.5 and back then it was WM 6.1. I would guess that MS still has not optimized the beta 6.5 yet. But IA5-6.5 compared to another cook's IA5-6.5 => I would still say the statements are true. How about you? Ron... Edited March 26, 2009 by ronaldb3

If it's about the optimizing well I even think that they can optimize further even 6.1 B) let alone 6.5! There could be diff from one cook to another due to the fact of the amount of programs they put in the rom! But I could be wrong, I am just a newbie :(
Guest ramis7 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Hi guys if you consider the battery life, i have used almost all custom rom but finally i am using official version and my battery life is very good now, approx. 7-9 days with 15-20 minutes surfing and receiving 5-7 calls every day.
Guest ronaldb3 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Sorry but I lost you there !? Which statements? Sorry I confused you there. I meant the statements copper concluded: "So battery life is more dependent on how you use your phone rather than which rom you got inside! Course all the currently popular rom's they are made on the basis of DXIA5 right?" The above is what I was agreeing with because of cooks now using IA5-WM6.5. Ron...
Guest davey1980 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 duno if just me but when connecting to the internet my batter dies in say 2hrs if browsing, if just left connected it drains half the battery life :s would a different rom change this?

How are you connecting? Wifi drains the battery more than phone. You should turn off Wifi when you are not using it. Ron...

I think however you connect the net should not drain your whole battery! There is something else going on ... some other programs you are running ... backlight adjustment ... etc
Guest bpivk Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I think however you connect the net should not drain your whole battery! There is something else going on ... some other programs you are running ... backlight adjustment ... etc Or maybe the phone is not going into standby mode. That can cause up to 50% faster bat. drainage.
Guest copperfield Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Or maybe the phone is not going into standby mode. That can cause up to 50% faster bat. drainage. Yeah but the guy says that the drainage is while he is browsing, and I dont think he can do that in stand by mode B)
Guest dwethiswar Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 well I'm using my own custom rom (just removed a couple of apps from IA5 and some minor tweaks) and I'm satisfied (easily a week under normal operation, phone gets turned off when I'm asleep) Here are some things I do to improve battery life: - there's nothing in Startup folder but AlarmWatcher and QuickMenu - I use MVBKlight on the today screen, always leave it to 0 (one lower then lowest you can get with WM settings) except when I'm outside or under heavy lighting - using a complete black theme with rather dark text, no white at all (although I'm not sure if this matters: I don't know what the hardware of the screen is like, it's not always because a pixel is black that it consumes less power, but normally it does) - my task button is assigned to a script that kills all tasks, then locks phone, then suspends. Each time I'm done playing with the phone I hit the button and preserve tons of battery ;P - only turn on use wireless/gprs/btooth whenever needed - all power timeout settings to minimum
