First you should educate yourself on how to update to a custom ROM. From what I've seen in the posts, updating is very straight forward if you are using XP, and not so easy with Vista. You will need to install a file called Samsung Modem Driver in order to be able to update if you are using XP. The file can be downloaded directly from Samsung's Omnia site along with instructions on how to update your ROM with either XP or Vista. You should also check out the ROM discussion in this forum for the best custom ROMs. In my opinion, the following link will take you to one of the best...

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...rom-18-03-2009/

It is a clean ROM, with some very useful custom applications, plus all of the original Samsung apps. The latest new ROM is generally DXIA5, but this can be different depending on your phones origin. If you download a new ROM from Samsungs site, then you will definitely need to know the phone's country of origin. With a custom ROM, it shouldn't matter. Most of the custom ROMs here are typically in english.

As far as the phone's band goes, if you are asking for 850/1900, then I can assume that your phone originated either in Europe or in Asia. Unfortunately, it is impossible to acheive this because European and Asian Omnias have a different radio reciever and cannot be reconfigured. You would need to purchase either a USA I910 Omnia, or an Omnia that originated from Latin America. These phones are also CDMA, and not GSM. From what I've read, at least the Venezuelan phones are possibly triband because they use both frequencies there. FYI, the Omnia was originally developed and designed for the European and Asian Markets before they were released everywhere else. In other words, you will have to settle for Edge if you are not in Europe, Asia, or anywhere else that doesn't use the same frequencies.

Buena suerte, amigo!! Era un gusto!
