Guest Adrynalyne Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I created this a while back, but didn't post it here, due to this being primarily an i900 forum, and the Modaco patcher works fine there. The problem why the Modaco patcher doesn't work properly on the Verizon Omnia is due to the fact that the secdialer.dll is different. The image resources are not kept within the dll. So, once I had a little help finding the lock image, it was easy to patch it, using Paul's model for the Modaco patch. Thanks Paul! So, without further adue, here it is. Click through to download. http://cid-ab9de24be9af1b9f.skydrive.live....ed%20Dialer.cab Issues: The menu softkey does not properly bring up the menu. It flashes, then disappears. Not an issue really, due to the fact that every feature under it has a finger friendly alternative on either the keypad, or status screen. Otherwise, there is no loss in functionaluty that I have found thus far.
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I've got an i910 and am unclear as to exactly what this does.. can you provide some sort of description, or screenshots? Are you talking about disabling the lock functionality when you hold the END key down?
Guest Adrynalyne Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 You know that annoying black lock screen that covers the dialer every few seconds while on a call, and makes extra digit dialing, etc. a pain in the arse? Well, this removes that. Its the same thing as the modaco patched dialer, just the verizon version, as the dll differs considerably.
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Ah I see. So it is disabled permanently, because it is actually quite necessary when on a call, otherwise you will be pushing all sorts of buttons with your face / ear on the touch screen. Perhaps a manual toggle for the lock would be the best route. I agree it is quite annoying when on a call that requires multiple successive keypad inputs, the lock button comes back automatically after 2 seconds. it would be nice to be able to enable / disable it with a single button press while on a call.
Guest Adrynalyne Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 (edited) This is a hack, and what you propose would require an application, something I am unable to do, anyway. In my case, I already have a much superior call lock that is also far less annoying via Pocketshield. By using this hack, I get the big finger friendly buttons, and ease of skinning of the Samsung dialer. Edited March 27, 2009 by Adrynalyne
