There are a bunch of WM 6.5 roms floating around, and from what I have seen someone has a pretty good one cooked up for the I900, but has anyone made or heard of one being made for the I910? Or any CDMA phone for that matter? Thanks

No custom ROMs can currently be made for the I910 because we lack a proper official ROM to start with.

ROM dumps do not seem to work, because they lack crucial files needed to actually burn the ROM back onto the I910.

All I900 ROMs were created using ROM updates - The I910 currently has no ROM updates (And given that Verizon likely knows the moment they release one, the floodgates will open, they likely never will (Regardless of their GPS unlock promises))

Nothing can be done for custom ROMs or the GPS issue on the I910 until Verizon releases an update.

Don't hold your breath on that.

Three things

1. Thank you

2. CRAP

3. I am impressed that you knew I was trying to get it for the GPS angle, unless of course you are following that thread.

At any rate, thanks for the helpful info!

there actually was an update from samsung to Verizon back in may 2008 and was to be used in all i910 phones prior to feb 2009.

the update was for an internal memory issue.

I almost was able to get a Verizon tech to email it but it never showed. Try telling Verizon that your "My Storage" keeps disappearing. maybe someone else can get it from them.

the tech mentioned that it was a fix that all stores should have done and updated, and that i could bring it to the store for them to try again. i just kept saying that i wish there was something i could do from home.

good luck to anyone else who tries.

We now have the February 14th 2009 ROM released from Samsung. You'll find it in the "New ROM for Omnia i910" thread. It's a nice start; new keyboard, new game, etc. Should be enough to start cooking with I think!

i cant believe this thread is already started... we just got the new rom yesterday and most people havent had time to work on it till today lol....

anyways, we should try and work on one thing at a time, like getting the gps to work.

maybe some of the other guys that have been working on roms can work with this one, but i would wait until verizon actually releases a stable version before we start anything else.

at least by then, we will have something to go back to if we brick our phones.

Can't imagine wasting time trying to get 6.5 using the Leaked ROM which clearly has some issues with it.

I wouldn't bother until the official Rom is released next month.

hmm... I have been using the leaked ROM for over a week now, and it is not clear to me what "issues" you are talking about.

I think he means the 6.5 leaked rom. All cooking going on right now with 6.5 is from a chinese leaked rom. I've heard it's buggy and it's also not for the cdma vers of the omnia. SO....even if some one could cook it into a rom for the i910 it will probably be buggy....at least that's my understanding....

I have 6.5 on my Vogue and it works just fine. Should be no reason that we can't find a way to get it on the Omnia.

I have seen that you have done some work with ROM's for the Omnia since the leak came out, have you made any progress towards 6.5? And how are you liking 6.5 on your Vogue?

No, no progress towards 6.5 for me yet. I have been trying to do some research about it so I can figure out what needs to be done.

6.5 is very nice on my Vogue. Made it a new device and fun to play with again. I like the new plugin as it gives you just about all you need right off the bat. The Vogue ROM is not something I have done though.

21501 SYS/XIP is out, which should be 6.5 RC. I've been trying to get it to load, but I'm stuck at the second loading screen. From what I'm told, it's probably a OEM/SYS problem. I've been playing with trying to get it work a little, but I'm at a loss at the moment.

I can't speak for WoZZeR but I haven't gotten any further. Mine doesn't want to build so I have to figure out why. I'm stuck in the starting blocks right now. :excl:

I don't know of anyone but that doesn't mean there isn't.

I will keep working on this until I get it as I want 6.5 on my device also.

I'm trying out a different kitchen that I think may work. I'm at work right now, but I have 3 test flash images to test when I get home (bah, still a few hours away). I will update with the results later.
