Guest 4cathy Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Hi I have had my Omnia since 11/2008. Currently, I am using a SD 16gb microsdhc in my Omnia i910. My phone does not always recognize that the storage card. Any ideas of what I can do to resolve this issue. I am totally frustrated at this point. I have reinstalled the memory card several times. Please help. B) Thanks.
Guest Rooster Misfit Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 the only thing i can think of is take it to a verizon store not a kiosk or a shop that sells other stuff too. take it to a main store they have actual techs that can look at it. is your 16 gig card completely full? cause i can see it having problems reading it all if its brim high
Guest kav Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 i have had this issue with my previous pda. i have an eten g500+ and it uses minisd cards and i remember buying a minisd of 4gb and it has problems recognizing it several times. i had to take the card out and reset the device and set it in again many times. but that was easy to do since the card slot was hotswapable (outside). this we cannot do on the omnia, i had both the cevice and sdcard checked at the store i bought both and there was no problem at all with either of them. the thing is that the card was not 100% supported by the device (g500+). luckily they changed the minisd for me for free (anyway it was under warranty as it was only 6 months old) and this resolved the issue. i believe that u are having the same problem, i would suggest to buy another micro sd card (another brand) for use.

I will call Verizon. If they cannot help, I will return the card to the store. Thanks for the advice.
Guest sys_error Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 No, my card has hardly anything on it. I will call Verizon. If they cannot help, I will return the card to the store. Thanks for the advice. 2 possibilities... 1. microSDHC card KO OR 2. card slot on your Omnia KO Suggest you try 1 or 2 more good cards, if got problem then is likely the later.

Guest walter_jnr Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 This maybe completely a different issue but I was just trying to install a 4Gig card in my Omnia and the thing refused to be recognised. I was cursing and howling, reinstalled it a few times and reformatted until I realised that the stoppers at the end of the slot that the card goes into were about 2 or 3mm longer than they needed to be. The result was that the connectors weren't fully touching the connectors on the actual card. I pulled the card back a few millimeters and it worked just fine. Sorry, I don't know the technical terms for these parts.

Sorry, I don't know the technical terms for these parts. This sounds more like a card problem than the phone card slot. Are you using a name brand memory card (SanDisk, Kingston, etc)? I've had problems with the miniSD adapters from DaneElec and SanDisk fitting in my desktop reader (too thick) but no problems with the micro cards themselves. How did you format it if it wouldn't recognize the card? I always format on the device. After that, I'll read or write on the desktop to add/remove ringtones, etc. Just a habit leftover from rotating media. 1 and 2 GB cards have on-board drivers; microSDHC cards rely on drivers on the device. I had a 1GB card fail on my LG VX8600. It would format, write and read on my desktop but fail all operations on the phone. Cathy I would try a total back up with Resco or SPB, and using the format card option in a Hard Reset. Then do a total restore. If you don't have a backup program, now might be a good time to get one. Good luck. Ted

It was formatted on my MP3 player originally but only FAT32 so it worked fine in my PC. It may have been a card issue though. Maybe it was somewhat irregular size?

The 8 GB storage card worked fine in the original unit I had purchased, but in the replacement unit, it seemed to slide past the connectors. I too had to pull it back a few millimeters and tape it in place to keep it from sliding again.

If the card slot on the replacement phone is wonky, I would have VZW replace it (again :excl: ). 4cathy: Did you resolve your memory card problem? My phone stopped hard resetting via Call/End/Reset buttons. 1st Customer Rep. couldn't understand why I would want to reset anyway. :excl: 2nd tier was not familiar with Omnias. :excl: 3rd tier arranged to ship replacement. ;) I didn't want to use local VZW store (even though the techs there are short a brick or two of a full load) cause the ROM wouldn't match stock (it's flashed with CC20). The card slot on the new phone will be the first thing I check! I've heard VZW is shipping with GPS unlocked. We'll see. :excl: Ted
Guest Foster318 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Had the same problem with my i910 yesterday. I called them this morning and after MANY attempts to tell them that it's not reading the card they are sending me a new one in the mail today! I have wozzers md2 rom on there I'm sure they will like that when they get it:)
