Slower data on new T-Mobile contract

I've just purchased a Touch HD with T-Mobile to replace my Vario III. I have both numbers active for a couple of weeks til the old contract runs out so have been doing a little speed testing of the two devices.

Was playing with vTap and wondered if the data connection is quicker on the new phone but noticed videos taking about 3 times longer to start playing. Then I connected the phones up to the PC using Internet Sharing and used speedtest.net. The HD was getting a max of 0.29Mbps and the Kaiser was doing about 0.5 and jumped up to 0.7 once or twice.

So I swapped the SIM cards over and now the Kaiser is getting a max of 0.29Mbps and the HD jumped up to 0.8. It seems my new connection is slower than the one I took out 18 months ago.

Any ideas?

contact tmobile and make sure that they have HSDPA activated on your account.
