Guest 843 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) I just got my Omnia, and given my previous phone uses a keypad, I'm still not used to typing on a touch screen. Samsung Keyboard is the standard keyboard but though typing speed is slow, it's the most practical. Transcriber gives a good speed, but correcting errors is troublesome. I'm now learning to use Letter Recognizer, and so far it's been great. I also very much like the phonepad, but i want to try something new B) Which keyboard do you like most and how's your typing speed? Edited April 1, 2009 by 843

Thanks Second for TouchPal. Worth every penny. Nothing else compares to speed, accuracy, and ease of use. Also oodles of nice features not found on the other keyboards out there. Only negative is the landscape layout is not optimized for landscape orientation, however the developers are currently working on that, and have said they will have an update soon with this issue addressed. In any case, I don't find this to be a serious problem almost all the time, as it's easy to just use it in portrait when input is needed. It has a free-trial, so there's no excuse not to give it a test-drive, except one: Unwilling to pay for it, don't torture yourself trying it out. Edited April 1, 2009 by dwallersv
Guest Sunil Gangwani Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 I used SPB Keyboard but prefer Touchpal 3.5 by cootek. It works really well with predictive text and autocorrect. It does have a slightly steeper learning curve but once you get used to it, you can type pretty fast. It does not work so well with landscape mode but I have had that come up so rarely that it doesn't really affect me too much. Plus I am told that the developers are actively looking to improve on that in future versions. Here's a
Guest yojoe600 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) finger keyboard is the best i have found so far edit: may try touchpal now Edited April 1, 2009 by yojoe600
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 i'm just using stock. i use the phonepad for portrait, and full kb for landscape. my only gripe is the spacebar placement, i've tried the fix for that on here but it was giving me problems (slow loading, not showing the whole pad when brought up.) i have no issues with typing speed and am actually impressed at how well the onscreen kb works.
Guest punkmonkey1984 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 yeah touchpal but seems to bug and crash on 6.5 so fingerkeyboard
Guest kalevs Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 fingerkeyboard is the best solution !!!
Guest 843 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Touchpal looks awesome. I assume it works well with WQVGA? The learning curve looks a bit steep though, anyway I'll give it a try.
Guest Blobs Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Touchpal for me too. Be aware that in landscape the keyboard remains the same size as portrait. Next release should rectify this but might be a month or so.
