Guest inite Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Seems like i've tried alot of applications, and deleting most of them, seemingly my phone seems to be lagging, also using up quite abit of the phone's memory where i have problem managing. Is it possible to format the phone so that its like brand new so i can choose the programs which i want selectively.

You can't get rid of the programs that came installed, but you can do a Hard Reset. Either hold Talk+End while the omnia is booting with the logo, or goto settings, and in the middle tab there should be a hard reset program. The passcode (at least on the i910's, I think the 900 is the same), is the last 4 of your phone number.

With the HardReset app in Settings/System you can choose either (or both) to reset to factory the phone or format the MyStorage. The password for the i900 is 1234, then type "yes". Ron...
Guest inite Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 oh ok. so after the hard reset, the phone will be back to its original shape ? so items like spb shell will be removed completely by the reset right. is there any side effect or downside of doing a hard reset to the phone which i need to be aware of ?

That's what it will happen. You'll have to set all the settings and reinstall all apps. I recomend formating the internal memory and memory card if you have one so you don't end up with useless junk on your phone.
Guest inite Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Ok. I did configure a couple of registry files though, do i need to change them back to its original state before the hard-reset? Sms chat and thumbcal.

Guest dirty83sanchez Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 anyone did a total format, with windows included?
Guest kav Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 anyone did a total format, with windows included? by total format, if u mean hard reset, then yes many people did it here, since they tried to install apps that didnt work or caused the omnia to malfunction. but if u are considering hard reset on the omnia (formatting) due to lag of the omnia because of many previously installed and removed programs, maybe u should have a look at a program called anatomov pocket mechanic. its a very good app that i use on my other pda , an eten g500+, and it provides functions to detect the fragmentation on the pda, fragmentation of the registry and it also removes useless registry entries, and defragment the drives, cards so that it increases the performance of the pda. well the app is not free of course, but its worth having it. i dont know the latest version of this app, but give it a try before hard resetting, no harm in that. if u still dont like it then u can still hard reset.
Guest inite Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Thanks Kav. I'll try that program out. I think the main reason i wanted a hard reset is because i've tried quite abit of programs, and deleted most of them cos i didnt find it useful, and i realise it seems to cause some lag.
