Recommended Posts

Posted

Here are some free apps that i found on the internet and that i am using on my omnia. they are free and all the credit goes to the people who made them.

I have tested these apps and they are guaranteed working on omnia.

1.KeySwop

KeySwop is a simple tool for you to remap the softkeys on the today screen

Installation Notes

  1. Download the CAB file and transfer it to your device. Do not open the CAB file as if it is a ZIP file.
  2. On your device, launch your file explorer and locate the CAB file.
  3. Tap on the CAB file to start installation.
Usage Notes
  1. Select the target links using the "Browse" buttons and edit the labels if needed.
  2. You can also add new shortcuts to your Start Menu from the dropdown list using the "Add" button.
  3. Click on "Apply" to apply the changes for the relevant softkey.
Other Notes
  • If you are using HTC TouchFLO 3D, please try switching the tabs to refresh the changes in the home tab.
  • If you are using HTC TouchFLO (e.g. on HTC Touch 3G), please try to disable TouchFLO and re-enable back in today settings page to refresh the changes in the home tab.

2. ING Change Font for omnia.

This is a nice small app that allows u to change the font in the omnia, menu, settings, file explorer, dialpad, keyboard etc...

very nice app.

I will post more apps in this thread as i find them and test them on my omnia.

dont just hit and run!!! share what u have and u will get more in return.

S2U2 1.62

This is a must have software from A_C. It locks your screen, acts as a caller id, shows appointments and tasks, missed calls, sms and so on. Complete skinning and many configuration options are also on the feature list. And with the new version 1.62 we also have sms, mail and mms preview right on the locked screen!

For more details and downloads, visit his site: http://www.ac-s2.com

And the best is: ITS FREE! But anyway, A_C is sacrificing his free time, so please donate!

I prefer PocketShield. It's just out of beta.

Well the OP didn't specify if he wants freeware or what we use so i went with the second option.  B)

Another vote for PS.

Its lightweight, and swift. Efficient, and strqaightforward.

Plus, it doesnt have the kitchen sink thrown in (S2U2).

What they have accomplished with the app, I think they deserve every cent.

Some replacements for the Omnia contact list and dialer -

Commercial

contactinfo01.jpg

Phone Extension 1.3

This is definitely one of my favourite Apps at the moment. Looks sleek, works well, and makes accessing various information about your contacts easy as well. It's fully skinnable and isn't too stressful on the phone either.

Free

IDialer & IDialer

Two free programs to make your software look more like an Iphone. Definetly easier to use without a stylus, and looks more attractive to. Good free alternative B)

it is extremely nice to see people contributing to this thread.

if u can just leave ur experience that u have with the apps u are sharing here, it will help a lot of users to make up their mind if either that app fits their needs or not.

i have some more apps that i would like to share here, will upload them later when i get home later on.

Just listing my view on Apps that I keep using everytime I change ROMs.

1. SPB Mobile Shell - great and simple. If you have caller ID photos even better. Allows you to customize the way you want your menu system on your phone.

** Can't live without this one & can't wait to Version 3 :( **

2. SmileySMS - Addon for Windows Mobile text messaging, adds the IPhone style chained messaging in bubble style, plus can add animated smileys and caller id pic at top of message. Could app, but I always tend to have to install this twice in order for it to run correct with Manila 2D touchFlow.

3. HouMing File Explore Extension - addon for the Windows File Explorer. Also 'Total Commander' and 'Resco File Explore' all very good thorough File Explorers.

4. GB-SOFT Tweak - This is a GPRS addon that you can setup to automatically turn of your GPRS after few minutes, just in case you leave your web browser open to long and it then costs you a fortune! It adds the disconect button to the bubble notifiction so its easier to turn off manually.

5. Core Player or TCPMP Alpha edition - Great for videos, music etc.

6. Microfi Nitrogen - Touch friendly music player - neat little IPhone style music player.

7. WVD - Web Video Downloader - App for streaming vids from YouTube, Google, Liveleak, plus 'Naughty' sites! Works in tandem with Core Player or TCPMP (make sure you run these before launching WVD).

8. WVGAFIX 3 - app for resizing the screen for other applications not designed for Omnia screen resolution

9. Kaisoft Sreen Rotator - yes you can guess what it does!

10. PHM Registry Editer - again have a guess!

11. AppToDate - developed by Modaco, can check for updates for apps you installed.

12. GAlarm - The Gsuite of tools are good, but understanding the menu system takes a while!

13. Calmero68 Media Connect - Streaming TV, Radio from England, France etc.. - very good works well

( but does not fit on screen correctly if you have Windows mobile 6.5, unless they apps has recently been updated!)

14. Fring - Instant messaging chat and VOIP application - MSN, Yahoo, Twitter, Skype

15. Touchlaunch - Finger friendly, skinable programs menu app - look up xda developers site for Omnia version!

16. Beyond Pod - Great for Pods!

17. IMselecter - Choose you default SIP keyboard (again try get from XDA developers)

18. SalesCalc - One for the ladys, can tell you the percentage discount for a given amount of cash, give a list values i.e 10% , 15% , 20% etc..

HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL TO PEAOPLE ! B)

WtTask

WtTask is a simple task manager with various other featured added in:

  • Icons/text/both are displayed in the task bar showing the running programs
  • Programs can be closed/hidden at the press/swipe of the finger
  • You can choose to auto hide certain apps from the task bar, if there is something you want always running but dont want the icon clogging up the task bar
  • Its got a neat in built favourites task launcher which is fully customisable and skinnable
  • The task bar is also skinnable
  • It uses finger gestures to run certain features; mine is set up so that a swipe down opens the task launcher and a swipe across from right to left shows today (hides the running programs but doesnt close them)
  • Extra functions include rotation from menu, change brightness and volume from menu, minimize all/close all/show today

Oh and its free, and you can auto update the program via the main menu.

FingerSuite

by

Francesco Carlucci

FingerSuite replaces standard menu and messagebox for our windows mobile devices.

This doesnt seem to do anything for me...

Edit: ah, i see what it does. Does it always run? or do you have to enable it everytime you start the phone?

It has an option to start at boot. Not sure why you would want a shortcut.
